Multitasker Posted May 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2008 This is my first positing and our first cruise in over ten years. We will have our teenage daughter with us. I'm interested in recommendations and opinions on what do in the ports of call. I have concerns on booking through locals or through the cruise line. Thanks for any info. cb at sea Posted May 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2008 What type of things do you enjoy? Beaches, active excursions, tours...?
Multitasker Posted May 23, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 23, 2008 We certainly enjoy the beach. My daughter wants to zipline. We are active but not athletic. We would like to to incorporate fun and some educational value into the trip.
TEXASMUNK Posted May 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2008 Or at least, one person's list! Grand Cayman: Book with Captain Marvin (save money, avoid cruise sized crowds), and go to Sting Ray City. Absolute, without a doubt, the second best thing you will do on this cruise...next to going through the Gatun Locks Gatun Locks: Watch history channel or Discovery, etc.....Between now and your cruise, see the building of the Panama canal then get up early and plan to be on deck for every minute of your passage through the locks. Panama Canal: Booked only through the ship. Take the ferry through the rest of the canal, go out the Miraflores locks then bus back to the ship Costa Rica; Through the ship. White water rafting...No, you need no experience, the guides are great and it is a RUSH!!!!!!!!!!

DHADEN Posted May 24, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2008 You should go to the Rollcall boards and find the Meet & Mingle for your cruise. You can talk to all the others that will be sailing with you, and get ideas. You didn't say which cruise in Feb. you will be on, but here's the link to the Jewel Boards. Go through and find the group for your sailing date. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=263 Hope This Helps.
