Is 12:15 flight too early leaving AOS in San Juan?

Recommended Posts

By the way, forgot to ask:

If the disembark time is at 8:30, is a 12:15 flight too early leaving from SJU?
There is a 1:40, but we want to get home early.
RCCL recommends no flight before noon from this cruise

We booked a 12 noon flight out of San Juan, but it is a 10 day cruise coming back on a Wednesday so the airport will not be as crowded. Last time in San Juan we had a 1:40 flight back to Newark, made it to the airport in record time and was able to get on a lfight at 11:00. I know I really didn't answer your question, but if you are coming back on a Sunday the airport will tend to be more crowded.

We did a 12:40 flight on a Sunday at the beginning of November. We were first off the ship, taxis right outside and there in plenty of time. You should be fine. If they don't call your flight for earliest debarkation, just go.

I just went thru SJU on 4/3, after Serenade sailing and there was probably about 2½ hours of lines when we got to the airport....line to get luggage, line to check in, line for security, etc. It was a zoo. We would not have made a 12:15 flight.

We missed a 12:20 flight out of SJ. BUT they didn't call our flight and we should have just gone when we felt we needed to go. We took the RCCL transport and waited on the bus for it to fill up and then our luggage was clear to the back of the truck when they unloaded it, so the odds were not in our favor.

I agree with beej, if they don't call your flight, just go anyway. And I would recommend getting a cab, even if you have paid for the RCCL transportation.

You might want to try it and see what happens if you miss your flight. We did get on a later flight, but they only had first class seats left. Should be no problem at all. Just get off when the first flights are called.

DH and I were on the AOS in Nov and RCCL put us on a 10:05 AM flight out of San Juan. We were pretty nervous that we would miss the flight but we were at the airport before 9 am so no problem.

I agree with most of the above. You should make your flight with time to spare...

I had the 12 noon flight out of San Juan on a Sunday in October 03 and then again in March 04. In October, we waited until they called our flight for leaving the ship, had RC transportation, and really cut it close getting to the airport in time. In March, we did not use RC transport...took a taxi, and we got off of the ship as soon as they began letting people off. No one checks your tickets or your color tags when getting off the ship. We walked off the ship, grabbed a taxi and were at the airport by 9:30 a.m. Plenty of time. I don't think I'll use the RC transport option again....you need to wait for others in the group, luggage is transported separately and then you have to wait for the luggage truck to be unloaded, etc.
