CHK Posted May 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2008 My DH and I are planning our first Celebrity cruise and I'm not sure about the dining options for dinner. Is the Lido buffet restaurant open for casual evening meals? Most of our prior cruises have been on ships that offer this option and we use it about 1/2 of the time. Thanks:D
JanineM Posted May 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2008 You can eat in the dining room (of course) at your assigned time. On the ships I have been on (Constellation and Summit) they don't have the full buffet open for dinner. There is a pasta, pizza and salad bar area (fresh pasta made to order). They also have "casual dining", which is in the buffet area (it's not called "Lido" - each ship has a different name for the buffet). This is seated, served dinner with a menu that is different from the dining room. We've had things like St. Louis Ribs there, steak sandwich, etc. There is a $2 charge per person, and you need to make a reservation. Celebrity uses this area to train their new wait staff, so the service may be a bit slow, but the new staff are desperate to please. You can also dine in one of the specialty restaurants ($30 upcharge), or have room service. Hope this helps!
kitty9 Posted May 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2008 What ship are you sailing on? That makes a difference. If you're on an M Class ship, you'll have the main dining room, the specialty restaurant such as Normandie or Ocean Liners, and the buffet area, which is not a buffet but a casual sit down dinner with a limited menu and an extra cost of $2 per person. You also have room service available.
dkjretired Posted May 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Room service also provides the regular dining room menu during the dining rooms hours. Depending on ship the grill, pizza and sushi will be open.

CHK Posted May 28, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted May 28, 2008 Thanks for all of the great info! We'll be sailing on the Equinox, so maybe the dining options there might be different. Thanks again
hajekfam Posted May 28, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2008 The dining options will be different on the Solstice class (Solstice and Equinox) as they have a few more specialty restaurants, and those in Aqua Class will be assigned to Blu instead of the main dining room. We are on the maiden voyage of the Solstice so if you can wait until the latter part of Dec., I should be able to fill you in as to what is available.
