first_timer2 Posted May 31, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2008 We are 2 couples on our first cruise. We have been told by some friends that we should not venture on our own for shore excursions. They say that the cabs will not come back and get us (or something like that). Can anyone tell us about their experience and their suggestions are greatly appreciated. If there are other things we should know, please....it would be awsome First timer:o

Many suggest that first-timers need to make sure that they do not miss the ship as it will not wait for latecomers. More info on your destinations would be helpful. paul929207 Posted May 31, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2008 If you take a cab to a place where cabs are not readily available, arrange for the cab to come back at a specific time. DO NOT pay the cab driver until he takes you back to the ship.
CruisinMommas Posted May 31, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2008 Many people do their own arrangements for excursions when on a ship. I would suggest since you are a first time cruiser study the excursions that are offered by the ship and see if there are some you might like. See how how the ship operates in port then in the future o your own thing. THE SHIP WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE NOT BACK IN TIME. If you choose to just walk around the town in port then that needs no planned excursion. Do some research on the ports where your ship is docking. We have been on few cruises and always use the ships excursion but we sometimes just walk around the town. Have a great cruise.
