Not including my tips our bill for our last three cruises have been:

$24.00

$14.95

$26.00

We don't buy any shore excursions and very seldom buy any drinks. I put in 4 quarters in last casino. Most of my charges have been on internet charges to check in at work.

Our average for a 7 day trip is 1000. for everything except the art auction, where the sky is the limit. I do bring some of my favorite wines for the cabin.

An Alaskan cruise is an exception where the flying type and fishing excursions can run the bill up to 3,000.

We spent 1500, but had 5 ports and did a tour through the ship with each one. We knew before we left that we had spent close to 1000 on excursions, so we were not shocked and had planned to spend that much. We did a wine tasting, ate at Sabatini's, bought the cookbook and other trinkets onboard. Had the drink of the day and cappaccino after dinner.

'SAYLOR GIRL" myself & hubby are just like you!!! we do not have to spend thousands to enjoy our cruises. we usually do one excursion, booked independently, and do alot of beaching and snorkeling, so we do have taxi fares and sometimes chair rentals.

I love our cruises, food, entertainment, etc. i always say its one of the greatest values out there. Our 9th cruise is on the Star in Feb. Always do winter cruises as we're from Michigan and it feels soooo good to warm our bones in the winter.

Seamare - That's how we like to do it also. We use alot of the city metros in the different ports and occassionaly we rent a car and drive. We try and go hiking in many ports such as in Alaska or Canada. And in the Caribbean we just love to spend the day walking the beaches and around in the ports. We don't need to spend tons of money and we have a great time. We always run away from the photographer when we see him!!

The tips were $70, came out of the above ship credit- plus I passed some cash- which I forgot to disclose. :) One drink for $5.68 All my excursions are independent.

This time we are putting money in our onboard account prior to sailing so there won't be as much sticker shock.

I am still wondering, can you put money each month for example like a savings prior to sailing, or is this the same as putting a cash deposit down instead of a credit card so that you start out with a credit?

$1500-$2000 for a seven day. Hey, it's a vacation! Live a little. The days off and relaxation are more valuable to me than the money. Besides, I prefer the cheap inside rooms and Princess' fares are so reasonable. I spend my money on fun instead of a balcony.

Before the tips could be charged, we usually had a very low tab. The best so far was on Celebrity. It was $8 , I had to get some stomach medicine at the Doctor's office. Now with tips added usually around $250. Last one week cruise, was about that with$140 in tips. Bought drink mugs, had an excursion ( usually booked independent). One formal portrait and $60 in the casino.

You don't have to spend alot of $$$ - others disagree but we always book cheapest available cabin - in the first 11 cruises we were upgraded 9 times and the 2 we weren't were fine - we sleep in that room and bathe - and that's about it - we eat the same food, see the same shows, go to the same islands/countries as the high rollers. After 12 cruises, we don't buy ship's photos unless for some reason they make us look spectacular and more importantly, thin! Don't much go to the casino - I do like my wine though...unfortunately DH can't drink at all (diabetes/CABG) so next cruise will be the first time the bar bill is all mine - wonder what it will be???????? First cruise we took a lot of excursions - now we only do the ones we REALLY want to do - and they are few and far between - so many ports you can just walk/tender off the ship and walk and do whatever you want. We made an exception in Alaska - can't walk to the glaciers. Most of the Caribbean beaches are spectacular but most are just alike - I have a friend who swears that we just go 'round-and-'round the same island at night - they just change all the signs on the island while we are sleeping - could be, could be. But who cares?! Cruising is a way of life and I have found out from others over the years that you pretty much love it or hate it - there doesn't seem to be many "it's ok" cruisers. And my philosophy is this - we get the cheapest available cabin, have a wonderful time and with all the money we save on cabin/excursions etc, there you go - that is enough money to pay for the next cruise! Keep smilin' and keep sailing!

ON the last cruise, my mom's bill was $250 or so and mine was just over $300 and we each had a $50 credit to deduct! Bought 2 shore excursions through Princess and had some drinks and bought a couple trinkets, no pictures.

With my husband I think our bill on one cruise was about $1,500 for both of us as we did some spa treatments, bought all the pictures, some drinks,
a couple trinkets! We're not heavy drinkers, so that is an extremely minimal
part of the bill.

WOW! Interesting, what a range.

On my last cruise, which was my 28 y/o daughter and myself - all applied to my credit card, was only about $300. I was pleasantly surprised and wouldn't dispute it, I secretly was dreading looking at it the final night.

That included automated tips, soda cards for both, drink of the day stickers for both, and of course add on the drink of the day a few times each day; A glass of wine for both with each dinner every night, liquor delivered to the room for personal consumption, 3 or 4 t-shirts, some gold by the inch (ankle bracelet and 2 wrist bracelets - has held up surprisingly well), and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember right now from the gift shops. No excursions (did that on our own) and no photo's - wanted to buy a mother/daughter one, but they didn't look very good, but did get the one with the Captain at the cocktail party.

Casino money was cash only, I believe. We didn't do good, but we didn't lose anything there either. Next cruise with my husband may be much more expensive. Time will tell!
