Just Back Carnival Liberty Part II

One of the reasons that we took Carnival over R.C. was that we felt that the travel iternary was better. Here is a brief review.

Day 1: Leaving port. We trink that departing from Miami is more scenic tant Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa or Port Caniveral. Be careful with the departure drinks, they can be strong.

Day 2: Half Moon Cay- This beach is usually frequented by Holland America and we understand it is a new stop for Carnival. Plenty of activities and the beach/water was fantastic. Being from Florida we are beach goers, but you cannot compare any of the beaches in Florida to the bahamas. The lunch ashore was quite nice (we liked the fruit)

However individuals have to be careful, especially at this tme of te year in that the sun is quite strong. Unfortunately Carnival was not up to the task of tendering from a hsipo was large as the liberty to and from the beach. Returning back to the boat, some people had to wait well over 1 hours in the hot sun with no shade. Although water was available, they ran out of cups. Several individuals passed out from heat exhaustion. Definite room for improvement. But all in all a nice day.

Day 3: At sea. Usual Carnival activites. Plenty of beach chairs were available both in the sun and the shade. I am a fan of the stadium type seating on the sun deck. The movie screen was quite nice.

Day 4: St Thomas. Possibly the best stop of the cruise. We booked our own tour of the island. Fantastic views. Some islanders say on a clear day you can see Puerto Rico. The town of Charlotte Amalie is also a must stop. For people interested the oldest functioning Jewish Temple is in the town.

Only problem was that some individuals did not report as requested to clear Customs. This held everybody up leaving the boat. I guess you get people like that in every crowd.

Other sites to see in St. Thomas include the island of St. John, Drakes Seat and Meagan Beach

Day 5: Puertro Rico. One of the advantages of this tip was that unlike R.C. the tripo arrives in the morning so that you can tour. R.C. arrives 3:30 P.M. too late to tour. Weill follow up later with P.R.
