bxny Posted June 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2008 Thinking of taking the Princess Santorini tour to Oia and then a winery. Is it just wine tasting or can you see the low growing vines. In NY our grapes ripen Aug into Sept. What is the season in Santorini? If I had the name of the winery I would be better informed. Thanks.
bennybear Posted June 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2008 three years ago Princess took people to Boutari which is quite a large winery. YOu can also get there by bus. Oia is beautiful and also accessible by bus, try the Assyrtiko white, it tastes of peaches. Enjoy.

Jade13 Posted June 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2008 There is also Santowines. My husband's sister just brought some back for us last week. Does anyone know which winerys open to the public were in business back in the early 1980's? It would be fun to go to the same one I was at about 25 years ago but I can't recall the name. The wines were really good. The other question is which ones are in walking distance if one is on foot, because I probably went to one I could walk to (but could have picked up a day tour years ago too). Jade13 Posted June 16, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2008 try the Assyrtiko white, it tastes of peaches. Enjoy. That sounds really good. The question is how to get here if not on an organized tour?
Jade13 Posted June 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Also, how much are they charging for donkeys or other transportation up to Fira?
jggreenb Posted June 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2008 Check out Domaine Sigalas. They make excellent wine. However, it is off the beaten path. I rented a car for the day
