traingal Posted June 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Does anyone have a suggestion of a hotel with transfers to Cape Liberty? We are cruising Explorer in September!
138east Posted June 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2008 There are lots of discussions on this board about places to stay near Cape Liberty. Are you driving or flying? Do you want to sightsee in NY? Do you want to avoid paying to park at the pier? The general consensus seems to be to stay at Newark Airport, downtown Newark, or Jersey City. There is one airport motel that offers a park/cruise transfer package, but the motel reviews have not been the best. There is one good park/fly hotel, but you would have to pay for a cab to the port. Some folks have points for free hotel rooms. Some folks have used Priceline to get a good hotel deal. The pier parking is $16.00/day and it is right next to the embarkation/debarkation area. One advantage to the pier parking is that at the end you can wheel your bags to your car and you are gone!
megr1125 Posted June 14, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Do NOT stay at the Best Western Newark Airport....they have a park/cruise package but it's not a great hotel...we generally stay at one of the hotels on Glimcher Realty way near Jersey Gardens Mall off exit 13A of the nJ turnpike. They have airport transporation and cab fare is 40-50 each way..per CAB. (since gas is a billion bucks things may vary...) [bTW it may acutally be a town car, NOT a cab....that's what we had when i asked the hotel to call us a cab to the port!] Residence Inn and courtyard by Marriott newark/elizabeth Country Inn and Suites Newark/Elizabeth there IS an extended stay america there too, but it has NO shuttle from the a/p and it is a little too budget for me...no shampoo or tissues, etc. BUT it may be workable. www.jerseygardens.com www.cruiseliberty.com hth there are others, but unless it is a full service hotel, eating options would be limited. There is also a Ruby Tuesday in the parking lot.
