RichH6109 Posted June 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Hi, Does anyone have a contact number for the company that runs the Princess art auctions. I successfully bid for a piece of artwork on the Sea Princess (March 8th cruise) that has still not arrived - however I'm in the process of moving home and my purchase form is in amongst a million other pieces of paperwork. I'd appreciate it if anyone can help. Thanks, R
NeurosurgeryNP Posted June 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2008 You may be able to get it from Princess Customer relations - you can email them at customerrelations@princesscruises.com You will get a generic email back stating it may take 2-4 weeks for a response, but I have found that a response usually comes within a few days. Julia’s Journey’s Posted June 14, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Does West Park run the auctions now that CC ownes Princess??
hillslife Posted June 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2008 No - Park West does not run the Princess art auctions, thank goodness. Princess owns and sells the art - so the above advise about contacting Princess Customer Service is correct.

LBL Posted June 15, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 15, 2008 FYI, I just got off a Disney Cruise and the Park West people told me they have been asked to do Princess art auctions but they don't have the personnel to handle it. I like the Princess auctions better and hope this doesn't happen like it has in the casino. I will say the couple that handle the art auction on the Disney cruise were the best of the auctioneers I have encountered. They were friendly and handled it very nicely. FYI ~ Park West has been saying that for years. I've been told that on both HAL and CCL cruises. Princess Fine Arts is a *huge* cash machine for Princess. I don't think they will ever let it go. If anything, CCL would be wise to move the Princess program onto their other 'family' of ships. It's probably just a timing thing with Park West having a contract for so many years. abcten Posted June 16, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Does anyone have a contact number for the company that runs the Princess art auctions. I think it's 1-800-RIP-OFF! :)
ssantow Posted June 16, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I think it's 1-800-RIP-OFF! :) May we assume you have purchased art from them? May we further assume you were dissatisfied with your purchase? If any of the above is correct please go away. That is not what this thread is about. Thank you. To the OP: sorry for my rant. You may find that due to the large volume of art they sell it may take up to six months to get what you purchased. If it was purchased framed you probably selected the frame and it must be framed before being shipped to you. My last purchase was back in December and it finally arrived in April. Contacting Park West will do you no good.I am pretty sure that Carnival also brought the art sales in-house several years ago. Cobra427SC Posted June 16, 2008 #16 Share Posted June 16, 2008 We've purchased many pieces from Global Fine Arts while aboard Princess cruises. In each and every instance we've been very pleased with the art and it's shipping. However, in some cases, it can take a while. The shipping is cheap, but while we (the collective "we") were whiling away our time aboard the cruises, they raised their buyer's premium from 10% to 15%. Some of the art sells for a good deal, but many pieces are sold near retail. It is nice to know that CCL stands behind your purchase, but it is a cash cow for them. s
berneslai Posted June 23, 2008 #17 Share Posted June 23, 2008 Can anyone give me the UK toll-free number to get in touch with Princess Global Fine Arts? I believe this is printed on all the invoices that PGFA give out (but I've lost mine) I'm in a similar dilemma to the OP but I can't afford to ring a US number with our extortionate telephone costs! I was told it would take 6-8 weeks to reach us and I received an undated confirmatory letter along with a certificate of authenticity but since then - nothing. I will give them another couple of weeks and then start chasing them. They were quick enough to charge the purchase to my credit card. Berneslai - The UK number is 0-800-917-2864. Dorset Cruiser Posted July 7, 2008 #19 Share Posted July 7, 2008 Success - we have received our artwork at last - well it actually arrived three weeks ago, whilst we were abroad, and has been sitting in our neighbour's garage - she forgot all about it. It is perfect - beautifully framed - and is already in pride of place on the wall in our lounge. I will buy more Princess artwork now that I have confidence that it will arrive as promised:D
vickie_bernie Posted July 7, 2008 #20 Share Posted July 7, 2008 I am glad you got your art work. We have purchased a few pieces but it was many years ago. Lately we have been hearing more and more problems. Here is are interesting articles. http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_cruise_art_auctions_scam_fraud.htm http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0408artworks0408.html http://www.chicagoappraisers.com/cruise-ship-art-auctions.html In the end if you buy something and you love it then it is worth it. It makes a great souvenir. Don't shoot the messenger - just always go informed which is the best amunition
Dorset Cruiser Posted July 7, 2008 #21 Share Posted July 7, 2008 What we purchased was not a great work of art. It was a somewhat limited edition Norman Rockwell print (370 of 900). However, it was what I wanted as I love his work. I aim to try and get another piece to pair with it when we cruise in January. I am not one of those who believe that I am going to pick up a Dali or a Picasso on a cruise ship:p I do not have to have an original on my wall, a print will do just as well, if I like the subject matter. Whatever the value of the print, it is very professionally framed and looks very nice on my wall and made a lovely birthday present for me from my DH and we really enoyed the cheese and wine party on board where we bought it (did not bid in an auction for it):D

AFT_LOVER Posted September 23, 2010 #23 Share Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) Park West is on NCL. I won a $650 piece of art and they wanted us to spend $210 on framing it. Global Fine Arts on Princess, I bought one & won one. Got the one that I won that was $20 shipping to arrive FedEx. The one we bought turned out to be lost. The guy brought it to us at our seats as I filled out the paperwork. Saw the $20 shipping added in since we were not interested in $200+ to frame it. Then I walk up to the gal at the computer with the paperwork & I asked why we are being charged shipping when I have it to take home. She freaks out & tells me that it belongs on the stage to sell. She runs over to get it & put it on the easel. Then 3 weeks later we get our art delivered but only 1 piece. I phoned to inquire about the missing print & they called me back to say it is missing. Not on the Crown but it was when we left the auction. Then a week later they call to tell me that they will credit my VISA account for the shipping & the purchase price. They did that night. Then i the mail we got 12-8" prints of the visiting artist who my husband bought me a necklace of 2 martinis that he had made learning how I love martinis. $40 was a deal for the beautiful piece of work that was made right in front of me. EVEN CUTER THAT A WAITER BRINGS ME A MARTINI TO ENJOY WHILE HE WORKED. Contact info: (954) 923-3362 Princess Global Fine Arts 24 SW 12th Ave Dania, FL 33004 No - Park West does not run the Princess art auctions, thank goodness. Princess owns and sells the art - so the above advise about contacting Princess Customer Service is correct.
