mbe30 Posted October 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2004 I want to make reservations for the Sterling Steakhouse for French night in the dining room. I've heard that reservations are best made as soon as possible, so if anyone knows, I'd really appreciate it. Also, any thoughts on the "always available" menu? I've heard that the steak is to be avoided.
coiran Posted October 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2004 I don't think they have a French night anymore - political reasons - there was a thread on it a few weeks ago. Ron
Rare Coral Posted October 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2004 The shrimp cocktail, ceaser salad and fettucini alfraedo are all very good (all on the always available menu). I agree about the steak. A friend had Princess put the grilled chicken (also on the menu) on their ceasar salad and enjoyed that as a grilled chicken ceasar salad. Rare Coral Posted October 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2004 This summer on the Dawn Princess - we had the French menu but it was titled "Continental Dinner" as opposed to "French Dinner". Our waiter told us they changed the name of the menu (but left all the items the same) for political reasons.
spongerob Posted October 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2004 Like everything else, it varies. Sometimes the always available steak is pretty good. It really depends on the galley staff. The timing of the French aka Continental menu changes from itinerary to itinerary. Some of my favorite items are on that menu.
christinelee Posted October 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2004 French night is no more.....seems like french bashing is the way to go now....they call it continental night.....usually the the fifth night
roohound Posted October 13, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2004 We still had "French night" in May 2004 on the Coral....will be interested to see if that changes when I'm on her later this month

Aquarian Posted October 13, 2004 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2004 On the Caribbean Princess, French night has been changed to Caribbean night.
sunman Posted October 13, 2004 #11 Share Posted October 13, 2004 Aquarian, which night is Carribbean night on the Carribbean Princess? That will be the one I would to make reservations for at Sterling Steakhouse.
Aquarian Posted October 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted October 13, 2004 I'm sorry but I don't remember for sure. That was in May. Perhaps someone who has been on the Caribbean more recently will remember.
