Bobed1927 Posted June 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2008 Does Maasdam have a movie theater? If not, do they show movies elsewhere on the ship?
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2008 The Wajang Theater is the place for movies. It is also the Cukinary Arts Center.
sail7seas Posted June 15, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2008 They usually show reasonably new movies.
SueCruz Posted June 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2008 The Wajang Theater is the place for movies. It is also the Cukinary Arts Center. The Wajang "Theater" has 2 really small screens, one on each side. Not much like watching in a theater, more like watching on a big screen tv. Krazy Kruizers Posted June 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I was always under the impression that when it is time for a movie to be shown, a BIG screne is lowered in front of the curtains which hide the "kitchen". This is in addition to the 2 small TV's. The small TV's are also used for the cooking demonstrations.

SueCruz Posted June 17, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2008 This is correct. The TV's are not used during the movie only the big screen. Cheers, I was on the Maasdam in December 2007,went to the theater twice and both times the movie was shown on the 2 little screens, no big screen appeared
jtl513 Posted June 17, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 17, 2008 The TV's are not used during the movie only the big screen. For every movie we've seen on the Veendam, Statendam, and Amsterdam, both the large screen AND the two small screens were used simultaneously. The small screens are beneficial for the people off to the sides of the room. SueCruz, they must have been having some kind of a problem with the large screen on your cruise, because it is not the norm to use just the TVs. Krazy Kruizers Posted June 17, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2008 I agree that something must have been wrong with the big screen. All the ships have the same arrangement - 1 big screen in the middle and 2 smaller TV's - one on each side.

Did they use the larger theater screen? We're going again in November and it would be nice to see a movie on the large screen instead of the "tv screens"
Bobed1927 Posted June 18, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted June 18, 2008 Thank you all for your replies to my inquiry. I'm assuming that they still offer popcorn at the theater. After all, what would a movie be without popcorn?
kzocruiser Posted June 19, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 19, 2008 We were on the Maasdam in March 2008, and all 3 screens were used. And, yes, there was freshly popped popcorn, too.
