Historical Tours?

I will be on the Carnival Destiny out of Aruba in January, 2005. I am something of a history buff and I am wondering if there are tours geared towards seeing the former plantation houses and older churches as opposed to others that head directly to the beach and shopping areas.

Operators and some notion of itineraries would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I would highly recommend the Barbados Island Tour as done via the ship. This will give you a good overview of the island as well as seeing several historic places.

If you can take an early tour and then once back at the ship you could actually take a walking tour of Bridgetown (either guided or on your own) and see the Barbados Synagogue, the oldest one in the western hemisphere, as well as St. Michaels Cathedral and the Parliment buildings.

Have fun and enjoy.
