Kelli-Ann...

You are doing a beautiful job on this review. I am loving the pictures, and re-living my cruise from last September through your lens. :p

I agree with you about Roatan, it is the most beautiful place I've been...and I felt the same sympathy for the locals that you did.

Your pics of Bananarama do remind me alot of Tabyana beach (the Carnival excursion one), so your guide was telling the truth.

OMGosh I can't wait to go back to Roatan in December...I am SO doing the Victor Bodden tour this time! My dd will just die if she gets to hold a real monkey!

Can't wait to see the rest!

The above pic really reminds me of Tabyana. it seems to me that Tabyana may be just beyond the buildings and pier in that picture... around the bend, if you will.

I too felt a certain sympathy for the locals in Roatan. I agree it is absolutely beautiful! DH said it is the most beautiful place he's seen... and he can compare it to St. Thomas! (Well, it's been 15 years since he was at St. Thomas.)

I must have missed it somewhere, but, what is the name of the park/pool with waterfall and toad stool that you went to in Belize? Do you have to go horseback riding to get there?

Thanks!!

It's called Bacab Eco Park. They have other tours besides horseback riding. They also have kayaking, biking, and butterflies. I believe the only way you can go is if you book through Carnival.

Okay, stupid question. Is the DOD in the loooonnnnnggggg red tube looking glass? First time cruiser here. Don't want to miss anything. Also, did you have to wear your night clothes under the bathrobe and did it have to be a Carnival bathrobe? Great review so far. I am waiting very impatiently for the rest. :D

The red tube glass is what's called a yard glass. It looks like one purchased from Senor Frogs; she just refilled it onboard it seems. Great way to extend the Frogs experience IMO, wish I'd have thought of that!

You can wear whatever under your robe, doesn't have to be pj's. (Just please wear something! Haha!)

I guess it doesn't have to be a Carnival robe, but I think all the rooms have robes provided (correct me if I'm wrong) so IMO why bring yours from home? However, DH & I didn't even take our robes to the party! But just so you know we were two of very few who did not have our robes.

Do all Carnival ships do the bathrobe party? We are sailing on the Conquest in September and would love to attend.

I noticed that you're on Conquest after I repiled to you... I have only been on the one cruise, on the Legend, so cannot answer for the Conquest. I believe all Carnival cruises have a Deck party of some sort, again someone correct me if I'm wrong. The theme of the Party on the Legend for us was Bathrobes. Yours may be different.

I'm enjoying your review so much...thanks for taking time to include the pictures.

Four years ago my friend and I did a tour with Victor Bodden while our husbands were diving. I think it was the highlight of the whole week for both of us. We are both teachers and Victor took us to a school...I think that was probably the first time someone had requested that. Now I see he advertises a school visit as a possibility for a tour! The photo of the classroom on his website is actually one I took the day we were there!

I'm sorry we didn't get to go to his house. He did talk a lot about his family, but just don't think he took people to his home at that point. I would have loved to hold those darling monkeys!

I'm so glad that Victors business has grown the way it has...you couldn't find a nicer person in my opinion!

If it's been 4 years since you've used Victor I'm sure his business has grown quite a bit. I'm sure even Roatan has grown a great deal since you were there last. Wow, I didn't realize he could take you to a classroom! I'm a teacher too. But, the children were on break while we were there anyway. Yes, his monkeys are adorable!

This is how we were greeted as we came back to the ship.

Tonight was the second formal night. I was looking forward to it because I really love to dress up. Russ, of course just tolerated it. We still had a bottle of Champagne left. So, I went down to get some chocolate covered strawberries to eat with it before we got ready for dinner. Those were the best chocolate covered strawberries I have ever had! They had white chocolate as well as dark chocolate. Yum! I have to say, it seemed to me that were more long gowns on this night than there was on the first formal night. That’s the first time I’ve seen that on a cruise before. I don’t remember what Russ’ appetizer was, but I had Lobster Bisque. We both had the Grouper for our entrée. This was fantastic. For dessert we both had the Baked Alaska. (I really miss how they used to dance around with the Baked Alaska on fire. But, I guess somebody must have gotten hurt or they wouldn’t have stopped it.)

Legend_Kelli_Ann_6_20083.jpg

We tried to get some good pictures on deck. But, as usual it was windy.

Legend_Cruise_Kelli_and_I_6_200814.jpg

Here we are having a cocktail before dinner.

We really wanted to see Allyn Ball do the comedy show at midnight. We didn’t really want to see the Jazz show, but figured if we wanted to get good seats for the comedian we probably should see the Jazz show as well. I enjoyed parts of the Jazz show, but other parts made me sleepy. I guess it was all of the food I had eaten. What’s weird is, I didn’t seem sleepy at all when Allyn Ball was performing. I have to say he is hilarious. If you ever get a chance to see him you should! We went to the casino for a little while after the comedian, then finally retired for the night as we had had a very busy day.

This review has got me wanting to go more than I already did!!!! 39 long days to go. :p It's nice to get an idea of all the ports we willbe going to, if even on a different ship.

Oh... and I stole the picture of the Valor and put it as my wallpaper. :D

Edited to add: I emailed Carrie and she says that she is no longer able to offer the Twister Excursion to CCL guests. Just a head's up to those who are really looking forward to that excursion.

Wow, that's a shame that Carrie can't offer the Twister to CCL guests anymore. I guess Carnival wants to make the money.

I emailed her to see if this was true or just a nasty rumor, and sadly, it is. Carnival was threatened by what an awesome deal tourcozumel was offering so they basically told the twister company, either us or them. So Carrie cannot (presently) offer the Twister excursion to Passion Island anymore =(

Well, at least for now they are allowing tourcozumel to transport people to the island via taxi and ferry. It's so frustrating that big companies like that are making all of the money. Ugh!

Still loving it "mom" (and I know I'm older than you :D )

Our cruise buds that are going on the Legend with us will be in town this soon and I'm going to show them your's and Carrie's reviews when we talk about out port plans.

What was the admission and cost of lounges at Bananaramama beach?

I think the Viktor Boden tour sounds like the way to go. By the last port stop I've ready for a rest from the crowds.

Love, love. loved your shadow in the water pic!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! :) There was no admission to the beach. The chairs were $5 a piece.

Haha, your Valor pic is my background as well!! It's the only cruise ship I've ever been on and it's just such an awesome picture.

Hmm had another comment...can't seem to remember it...

Oh yeah! Allyn Ball, agreed, he was great! I don't think I'd ever seen DH laugh quite so much before. And definitely agree with your comment to be aware if you sit near the front since he does like to interact.

I haven't even sailed the Valor, but it's such an awesome picture that I'm using it anyway.

Ok, now to begin my post of the last day of the cruise. :(

Day 7 Sea Day:

We actually slept in until about 8:00 this morning. We had a leisurely breakfast on the Lido deck. I laid out by the pool for a little while. If I remember correctly Russ went to work out during this time. After a while, I got bored (and I didn’t want to get burnt, since I hadn’t all week) so I went looking for Russ. We decided we’d have an early lunch then check out the backstage tour.

The backstage tour was pretty cool because we got to see the dressing room, and hear about how the dancers make such quick costume changes. We also got to hear about the technical stuff, such as lighting and sound. After the tour we headed back to the Lido deck where we watched the Hairy Man Contest. I’ll have to say that this contest is always very entertaining! I love it when the older gentlemen enter the contest. They always ham it up, and make it more interesting for the spectators. I was scheduled for the “On Deck for the Cure” walk at 2:00, so that’s where I headed after the contest. During this time Russ went to watch some of the golf lessons that were being offered. (He did come by, and get a picture of me as I was walking.)

I believe Shawn had said that we had collected over $1200 for our sailing for the "On Deck for the Cure" walk. She first had those who were survivors start the walk. Everyone else followed. We did 4 laps around the Lido deck. This is equal to a mile.

Legend_walk_fort_cure_6_15_20081.jpg

Later that day we did the Galley Tour. I suggest that you stay in the back of the Follies Lounge for this. This way you can be toward the front of the line for the tour. This tour was very interesting. I really enjoyed seeing the sparkling clean kitchens. The food that was being prepped looked awesome! I thought it was pretty cool to see the escalators that the waiters use to go from the kitchen to the dining room. If you intend to do this tour, be forewarned that this is a popular tour. Many people will attend!

We were told that they had sold over 12,000 bottles of beer on our sailing, and over 41,000 liters of alcohol. It’s pretty obvious that there’s a lot of drinking on a cruise ship.

I guess I'm just a question box today. Sorry!

How much is the donation for walk for the cure to get a T-Shirt? Of course I'll be doing that!

My only sister and best friend had her 1st chemo treatment for breast cancer last week.

She should be okay in the end but she has 3 months of chemo and then 7 weeks of radiation ahead of her.

The had to cancel their cruise on the Mariner of the Seas to celebrate their 25th anniversary.:(

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} I'm keeping your sister in my thoughts and prayers.

The donation was $10. You also get a pink bracelet and a T-shirt. It's a wonderful cause! I do it because I lost my mother-in-law to breast cancer. I also have a sister-in-law who is a breast cancer survivor. I am also involved with Relay for Life since my father and brother both died of cancer. Unfortunately, cancer has touched my life in many ways.
