Rare Radio Posted June 22, 2008 Author #53 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Hello everyone ! We are at about 490nm from Bermuda. We are scheduled to be at the Ordance Island Pier in St George's at about 3PM. Today's weather forecast is cloudy, with a chance of rain and a temperature of 75f.The sun may peek through later today. I was surprised to see that the Monte Carlo Casino is open all night. At least the slots were. . . I was up this morning at 5AM, and the Casino was humming. . . There is also a Poolside casino, up on deck 10 with Blackjack, and a Big6 Wheel.(Opens at 10AM) Today there will be lots of activities. . .Here are a few of them: Triva Challenge - Rendevous Lounge- Deck 6 FWD Shore Excursion Talk - Palace Theatre - Deck 6 AFT Pool Volleyball - Double Power Bingo- Lecture- Bermuda from a different View- Wii Challenge- Name that Tune - Norwegian Pub Crawl Golf Putting Casino at Sea Blackjack Tournament. The Internet Cafe is on Deck 5 Mid Ship, and the connection is very good. I was told that the Wi Fi Signal is good for All of Deck 5, Deck 7 and 9 AFT, and Deck 10 MID. I am currently enjoying WiFi from my cabin on deck 7FWD. The signal is very strong, and the speed is about 300- 400 kbps. I am able to get the same speed on RCI, and HAL. The Package price is 270 Min for $100.(.37/per min) You can also order Newspapers from almost every major city (3.95 per day) I think I will wait to get to Bermuda and pick up a USA Today. There have been many questions on the boards about TV programming. Here is the Line Up: 14-On Board Info 16-Bow Cam / Announcements 18-Safety Channel 20-Shore Excursions and Cruise Rewards 22-Shopping Channel 24-Activities Channel 26-CNN 28-ESPN 30-TNT 32-Turner Classic Movies 34-New Release Movies 36-Feature Movies The new release movies are feature that you would currently see on pay per view. There is no way to check your NCL charges on TV. . .You can go to the pursers deck for a print out though. I will be back on later today. . . I will try to answer all of the questions from this thread when I get to Bermuda. . It is much cheaper there ! Oh Yeah, the "Drink of the Day" is Tropical Itch for 7.95 Thanks for tuning in ! Radio Early Morning Deck 6 Deck 10/ Cloudy and gray skies Deck 10 The sun will be out later today ! Heading to Bermuda. . . Our current location . Rare Radio Posted June 22, 2008 Author #54 Share Posted June 22, 2008 What is the Casino at Sea about? The Casino at Sea program will let NCL rate your play on slots and tables. They will give a Casino at Sea card which must be displayed while you are playing. . . You will be offered free drinks during play. You will have the possibility of earning rewards based on your rate of play. It seems to be a very nice program. . . I am not a big spender in the Casino, but I will stll participate and see what happens. Radio
Rare Radio Posted June 22, 2008 Author #55 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Radio as always job well done , please be honest about this question, so far how do you compare Majesty to Grandeur? we will be on her 7/19/08.Bulldog and Ms.Bulldog. I haven't been on the ship for 24 hours yet, but so far I like the Grandeur better. . . But the Grandeur doesn't stay in Bermuda for 3 nights either :D (Which makes Majesty VERY attractive. . .) ;) The Majesty is still nice, and there are many thing to like about Majesty. . .I will post my full review when I get back to Baltimore. . . MaryTiller Posted June 22, 2008 #56 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Thanks Radio. Your reports are like I am going on the cruise before I actually go!!! What number deck is the Promonade? I can't get a handle on where you are on the ship. I am using the deck names as my point of reference. HOpe the sun shines today. The weather in Baltimore is perfect. I can't get a handle on where you are on the ship. I am using the deck names as my point of reference.HOpe the sun shines today. The weather in Baltimore is perfect. Good question. The Promenade Deck on all cruise ships have an outdoor deck that one can walk fore and aft, sometime encircling the entire ship. On the Majesty, that's Deck 7, which by the way is named the Promenade Deck. Another common deck name aboard cruise ships is the Lido or Pool Deck, which usually has the main swimming pool and Buffet. On the Majesty, it's called the Sun Deck, and is on Deck 10. DeltaOne Posted June 22, 2008 #58 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Radio, I'd be most appreciative if you can post the WiFi hotspots you find in Bermuda. If you can...many thanks! We're on the 7/19 sailing.
cv322 Posted June 22, 2008 #59 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Radio...thanks so much for this thread, I'm loving it. And the pics are great! It's like being back on the Majesty once again, it's all so familiar. The port of Baltimore looks terrific & is a heck of alot closer to us than Charleston. I'd like to get back on the Majesty before she's out of service. Hmmm, we'll see ;). I look forward to more on-site commentary & your review when you return. Enjoy your cruise and enjoy Bermuda. bluesea777 Posted June 22, 2008 #60 Share Posted June 22, 2008 I sailed the innaugural way back in the nineties and it was named the "Royal Majesty" never heard of it being the "Crown" Majesty. and i've sailed her like a dozen times since it first came to Boston and did the Bermuda run. Weary When I was on board in April, 1995, it was called Royal Majesty, so I'm with you. Umm...she was never called the Crown Majesty..only the Royal Majesty of Majesty Cruise Line. And that photo is of the former Crown Majesty (a totally different ship....originally the Crown Dynasty now sailing as Fred Olsen's Braemar) I apologise! Now I remember that the name of the ship that called in Bermuda weekly in the 1990's was Royal Majesty. Here's a couple of pictures ... P.S. Radio, Keep 'em coming - the news and photos are great!! Jeniceves Posted June 22, 2008 #63 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Radio, I'm absolutely loving all your posts! Can't wait until the 12th! I read on another post on this site that changes are in store for the NCL ships to be completed by June 30. Including champagne when you are boarding, new mattresses along with many other changes. Have you noticed any of this? Since we're only a few days away from June 30 I would think if they were happening you would see them. Also, I've also heard that Majesty will no longer be after 2010 so maybe these changes aren't scheduled for her. Also, can you tell me what the Pub Crawl is? Sounds like fun! Are you in a superior or regular outside stateroom? How is the size? How is the storage (will suitcases fit under bed)? Thanks and have a great cruise! Rare Radio Posted June 22, 2008 Author #65 Share Posted June 22, 2008 I just returned from the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet we had down in the House of Lords room. I was able to meet the Hotel Director (Derek Van der Nest) He was a delightful man who is very proud of the ship here. He brought a number of the Majesty Managers and Directors (F&B Mgr, Executive Housekeeper, Concierge, etc. . .) He commented about how nice the Cruise Maryland facility is. The Port of Baltimore and the Cruise Maryland workers made their first sailing from Baltimore (for Majesty) exceptional. The only concern was that there was supposed to be a gangway for Deck 5, which was not available. That is why the passengers had to use the Deck 2 Embarkation area. I am sure that NCL will decide on another Cruise ship for Baltimore in 2010 (Majesty will be back in 2009) They sky cleared up, and the sun came out. It turned out to be a great day ! It has been windy, but very warm. We are currently 350nm from Bermuda. We are still on schedule to arrive on time. We lost a little time from rough current leaving the Bay, but we should be on time tomorrow. Here is the schedule for Bermuda this week: Monday Majesty Grandeur Tuesday Majesty Dream Grandeur Wednesday Majesty Dream Dawn Thursday Majesty Dream Dawn There will be having a first time event on the Majesty tonight called “Monte Carlo Night” in the Casino at 1030PM.(James Bond 007 Themed) We were told that this is a part of the 2.0 experience for NCL. They also have started the new menus this week on this ship. Miami exec’s are here help with the roll out. The new menus have already begun on other vessels, but they are new here ! (Yes. . .there will be lobster served on 2 nights) I am heading off to dinner soon, so here are a few pics from today. Thanks for tuning in ! Radio Lot of sun tanning today ! Deck 7 AFT Deck 8, looking AFT Deck 8 Children’s Area, and Pool Some Deck 9 Staterooms, offer an obstructed view.

novinha Posted June 22, 2008 #70 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Thanks, Radio, for all the great info. Hope you're enjoying yourself. We cruise to lovely Bermuda 7/5-12. Can't wait. I only found this site a few days ago. The whole board has had some great info and ideas. Glad I get to see this before my cruise. I'm wondering if you have any info on what's closed and what's not closed in the St. Georges area due to the old Club Med situation. We're really hoping to go to Tobacco Bay and Ft. Catherine during our stay (won't be too bummed out if we don't, we haven't been to Horseshoe Bay yet) and we can't seem to find a straight answer on what's what. In that vein, does anyone have a favorite Bermuda website?
MaryTiller Posted June 23, 2008 #71 Share Posted June 23, 2008 Thanks for the clarification of the deck number. We are also booked in a CC cabin but port side forward. Probably across the ship from Radio's cabin. The photo Radio took makes me feel so much better. The photo on the web site seems so small.
