Window in cabin

Does the window in these cabins on the Glory open? I've never been on a cruise before and heard there's either an inside room with no window or an "outside" room with a porthole or a window and then a room with a balcony. The room which has a big window.. does this actually open to let some air in or is it sealed shut?

Nope... the windows in those cabins don't open. They are closer to the water line and would be subject to letting water in during high seas:

That pictures makes my stomach hurt just sitting at my desk. I don't think I have ever seen seas that rough. How was that picture taken?

 

Well, that seems to be the mystery. There are opinions that the picture was tweaked or flat out composed. It's been around for a while. Frankly, over 30 years of cruising in every major ocean in the world, I've never seen a passenger vessel in this "position". However, I've taken several freighter cruises and have seen waves that come up over the bow....so who knows?
