ILoveScotland Posted July 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2008 Several questions about cruising out of Vancouver: 1. How far is it from the Vancouver Train Station to the Port? 2. How long does it take by taxi? 3. What's the approximate taxi fare? Right now I'm dreaming more than planning, but this will help move me toward the planning stage. Thanks. yyjguy Posted July 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2008 The distance is about 1 mile to Ballentyne Pier, and maybe 1.5 miles to Canada Place. Just a few minutes by taxi, for about $6. Don't plan on arriving on a train and sailing the next day. Perhaps Amtrak from Seattle is usually on time, but the trans continental VIA can have significant delays. Urban trekker Posted July 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2008 If your cruise is sailing out of Canada Place - about 75% of our cruises do and you don't have too much luggage you could take our Skytrain - rapid transit - from the train station - about a 7 minute trip and only $2.50 per person - then it is about a five minute walk to Canada Place. Hope this helps Cheers Dennis

Putterdude Posted July 2, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2008 There are wheel chair accessable vans in Vancouver but you may have to request one. You travel time to terminal will be about 15 mins and your cab fare will run about $15.

Putterdude Posted August 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 14, 2008 Oh this thread is great:) Its only 1 mile from Amtrak to Ballenytine? How wonderful!:D Sailing next month!!! However Lois, please don't try walking it, take a cab. The area between Pacific Central Station and Ballantyne pier is the poorest and most crime riddled postal code in Canada. We are not proud of it but that is the way it is.

Putterdude, no worries, as I was never planning to walk;) A cab will be my transportation and it probably won't cost too much either:D
