Calypso, 1980

Recommended Posts

There is a ton of information out there on this famous ship. Calypso began life as the Southern Cross which was one of the first passenger vessels to have an aft mounted funnel such as modern cruise ships to increase passenger space. Shortly after your sailing, Calypso became "Azur Seas", then OceanBreeze during the 1990's. When Imperial Majesty replaced Oceanbreeze with the more efficient Regal Empress a few years ago, Oceanbreeze was scrapped in Bangladesh.

Yesterday I could not get through to your extensive reference but have thoroughly enjoyed it since. What a great history and wonderful pictures.

It was a grand start to cruising for me.

Thanks again, Cable and Essiemom. Now I can better use the Simplon site.
