We are flying in on Friday night to MCO. We are scheduled to use the disney transportation on Saturday. Can anyone give me tips of which hotel to stay at for the best convience and what time to plan to be at the bus stop to get on the transportation (we want to be on the ship as early as possible). Any tips appreciated - first cruise on DCL.

Thanks, Nicki

The easiest would be to stay at the Hyatt right at the airport. It's literally in the terminal, so no waiting for a shuttle bus back and forth, and in the morning when you're ready to go to the port, you just take the elevator downstairs.

I would call DCL and ask what time the first bus to the port leaves, and plan on being downstairs about half an hour prior to that to be on it.

I completely agree, stay at the Hyatt at the airport. All you'll have to do the morning you sail is have your suit cases outside your room with the luggage tags on them and go have breakfast and then get on the bus and enjoy the ride. Your suit cases will be in your state room when you get on board. Have fun. I can't wait to sail again.

The Hyatt stay is the easiest solution, great accomodations, food service court, bags picked up, get on the Disney cruiser. The ship most likely won't be ready for new passengers until about 12:00, maybe a few minutes either way. 10:30 am at the bus registration area should do you well. Seven timer that knows this is a seamless arrangement, for a few dollars more. JIMO! Metrowon

We used to stay at the Hyatt for all the reasons given above. However it started to get pretty pricey for just staying overnight in an airport. So the last two times we booked at one of the hotels in the airport area (too numerous to name) that had its own shuttle and just went back to the airport in the morning to get the Disney bus. It worked perfectly well and saved us money we could use toward something else.

We've done the same as swifs. Flew in day before, took hotel shuttle and then back the next morning - 5 minutes each way.

Best bet is to get a hotel through priceline - can be done very cheaply - between $25 and $50 for hotels right around the airport.

Just be careful with Priceline--there are a few REAL DUMPS near the airport. Make sure you put in for a four star or above (which in Priceline World translates to three star in the real world).

Keep in mind that it's customary to tip the shuttle drivers if they are handling your luggage (which for a cruise they will be), so once you factor in that extra $5-15 each way it might not be all that much more costly to stay at the Hyatt at the airport--and the convenience of not waiting for a hotel shuttle IMHO is priceless. :) Also some of the hotels/motels near the airport are not really within convenient walking distance to any restaurants, and have no on-site restaurant, so just something else to think about.

Check out the Hyatt website for STAY certificates. You buy these ahead of time for around $135 which is cheaper than the usual rate available directly through Hyatt. Just call Hyatt first and make sure they have rooms available for the night you want using a certificate.Stay Certificates
