Carnivals fruit and wine basket

I got the wine & fruit basket from my travel agent on the Victory in May. There were oranges, apples, bananas, kiwis, grapes, cheese & crackers, dried figs, and a bottle of white wine, don't remember the brand. It was nice.

I received one for my birthday last fall aboard the Glory ~ it was in our stateroom when we arrived. Honestly, it wasn't anything spectacular. Like an earlier poster said, fruit is so accessible onboard it seems silly to have a basket full of it. We didn't open the wine until we got home and probably 80% of the food didn't get eaten.

Might I suggest some options . . .

~ High Seas basket

~ Bottle of Champage (bring two flutes with you and then enjoy the champagne at sail away)

~ Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries

~ His & Hers Bathrobes (or beach towels, t-shirts, visors, etc.)

Hope this helps!:)

I just ordered the chocolate covered strawberries for my mom (her first cruise in many years), a shirt for my husband, Carnival cocktail book (probably a couple pages) for daughter's boyfriend and a $15 photo coupon for my daughter. First cruise for boyfriend and mom. Anyone hear about the cocktail book?

You can choose either white or red wine for the basket, but honestly, we get them all the time because we escort groups on ships and the hotel director sends them to us. We usually end up throwing away most of the fruit because I get all the fruit I need at my meals. Do like the nuts and cheeses with the wine. But the wine is one of the less expensive varieties, used to be strange ones but now it is usually CA wines.

I would go for champagne, strawberrys and a couples massage!

I have had both the fruit/wine basket and the chocolate covered strawberries/champagne. My preference is definitely the berries/pagne. As a provious poster stated, you can get fruit on the ship on the buffet in the mornings, and the wine is just so-so. But the choc berries and the pagne..... mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm. We thoroughly enjoyed them. And from a guys standpoint, a little more romantic too...

We usually get the fruit and wine basket and like it a lot. Sure, there's lots of fruit on board but not in your room when you feel like some. Cheese and crackers are yummy too. Take a corkscrew to open the wine. I like to have a gift in the room when I arrive on board.

Our fruit and wine basket included a Carnival corkscrew.

OK, seems like you have (as always) difference of opinions and point of views. That is what is so great about these boards, you get different opinions and then you can use them to make up your own mind.

Basket or pagne/berries, I don't hink you can go wrong as long as you are happy with it and don't "what if" yourself once you make the decision.

Either way, have a great cruise and let us know how it went.
