Towel Animals on NCL?

Recommended Posts

We've had them on every ship with NCL so far...Sun, Jewel, Pearl and Dawn. This past March on the Dawn we had some I'd never seen before....and I made such a big deal about it one of the cabin stewards kindly taught me how. It was great fun and we both ended up laughing because mine was such a mess.

Joyce

That's a great picture.

Thanks! I guess they didn't use their couch much ...

Yours is a cute picture too, of a... um, bunny? (not so good at the name-that-towel-animal game! ;)

Here's a nifty tip...

When I first started cruising and noticed the animals, they always had little pieces of torn paper for eyes. Well, I bought a bag of those toy eyes (bought at Michael's) and took them to the ship and gave them to the Steward. He loved them. I got animals every night. Loved the lobster and monkey best!

LOVE that idea!

I was wondering what they made the eyes out of.

looks like a trip to the craft store is in order!

Thanks!

Just curious - does NCL generally do Towel Animals?

This will be my kids' first cruise (ages 5 & 7) and I know they'd be delighted with towel animals...

does NCL do them? Is it up to each individual steward ... can I request them?

Thanks!

I thought only our children did this!:) I wouldn't expect a towel animal or even St Nick with that face! Maybe coal.

I'm happy to hear that towel animals are an oceanwide thing... I've never cruised on NCL and I didn't remember getting any on RCCL (which was YEARS ago so maybe before towel animals?) so I didn't say anything to my nephew about them beause I didn't want him to be disappointed. I probably will just wait for him to be surprised anyhow but it's nice to know that it's a surprise I can expect!

most of my cruises were before towel animals...the stewards played other games: like laying out the PJ in cute manner.

but in alaska, my DH came up to me..in the casino...with the biggest smile. he said "you aren't going to believe this one" and would not let me go back to the cabin to check it out. had to wait until he was with me...

while towel animals don't make the cruise better or worse...they sure can brighten up a day.

I love the idea about the toy eyes from Michaels to give to the cabin steward for the animal towels.

I leave for my cruise on the 6th of December on the Magesty. This will be my fourth cruise.

Thanks so much for the great tip.

our stewards must have know we were members of PATA, we didnt get any during our Gem week cruise. We actually talked to them about it and asked them not to turn down our room in the evenings ,cos lets be honest it really isnt necessary .we had 3 kids sharing a room so no real point in turning it down. when we told them this they really appreciated it and told us all about how irritable other cruisers get about their towel animals and what a waste of time they are.......i guess they sooner they finish the rooms the sooner they can go and rest ...i must admit i sympathise with them ,they work very long hours to be hovering about making towel animals with towels that then us cruisers use to dry our arses with

Great idea! Love it. Thanks. I hope you don't mind if I use it? We have so much fun with our Stewards. One night during the cruise I will leave a towel animal for them. I make a snake! LOL Then they leave a little mouse for me to feed the snake.
