Formal Nights on Poesia and Musica

I am interested in knowing when the formal nights are for the Poesia and Musica in September for the Mediterranean cruises. We are taking back to back cruises and need to start thinking about packing light. If anyone who has recently been on one of these cruises, please let us know what nights of the week they are held.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the formal nights on Poesia were on Katakalon and the day at sea. On the first night pictures were taken on the staircase from the Zebra Bar to the casino. On the second formal night there were several backdrops set up on deck 6.

We were on the Musica in June.

Our two formal nights -

Tuesday - Katakolon, which was also the Captain's Cocktail night.

Friday - Corfu - this seemed to be a more casual "formal" with many looking a lot less dressy, eg: men without jackets and/or ties (maybe because the ship didn't leave Corfu until after 7 p.m., so quite a rush for many to change for early dinner)

FYI - although there were men in tux and dark suits, many more opted for light suits or jackets and ties

Also, unlike other cruises we've been on, there were no "informal" nights on the Musica - so I could have saved some suitcase space

Enjoy your "back to back" - guess that gives you a 2 day / 1 night in Venice in the middle, which would work out quite nicely - kind of wish we had thought / opted for that. One week, even with the extra day in Venice pre-cruise was much too short.

Thanks for the information. We wanted to see as much of Greece and Turkey as we could in one cruise and opted for the back to back on the Musica and Poesia. Our travel agent had never booked this before and she also thought that it was an interesting itinerary.

We are now trying to book some private tours and do some research before we go!! Can't wait.

Formal. Informal. Casual.

Confusing, isn't it?

And I think many cruise lines are actually moving away from the "informal" category. (On other cruise ships I'd usually wear a pant suit or dressier blouse and pants for informal, while husband wore a jacket or dressier shirt)

Although there's a description in the MSC dress code of all three, on our Musica cruise there was just -

Formal - Gents - Tuxedo, dinner jacket or dark suit and tie. Ladies - a dressy outfit, formal gown or cocktail outfit.

(Men didn't just wear dark suits, and second gala was much more dress down than first for many)

Casual - Gentlemen - Sports shirt, slacks or jeans. Ladies - Dress. Pant Suit or Sporty outfit.

The day that combines both Santorini and Mykonos was "Tropical" (?) - I think that was because many people used the cafeteria that night and both seatings were combined, so people went from dinner to the tender and wandering around town without changing again - We ate off the ship in a great outdoors restaurant beside the beach and watched the sunset, tons of restaurants in Mykonos, and a nice change to eat off the ship)
