dces1 Posted July 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2008 Since port is a fortified wine, can it be brought onboard HAL ships like traditional wine? I have a traveling friend who drinks the stuff and it does not appear on the bar set up order form on their web site. Thanks for the help.
jtl513 Posted July 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2008 Fortified or not, it's still wine, and the gangway security people shoiuld know that. :)
Rare terrydtx Posted July 22, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2008 I included a bottle of Port with my case of wine taken aboard the Volendam in FLL last year. The security people didn't say anything about it. So go for it.:D

Sherry is also a fortified wine. This also gives port a much longer shelf life after it is opened and prevents it from oxidising like regular wine. rebeljohn Posted July 24, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2008 We always bring a bottle or two of port with us on HAL ships. Great for after dinner, and a pairs nicely with a fine cigar..............

Brandy is distilled from grapes, so isn't it also technicnlly a wine?
