wolfganghowell Posted July 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2008 Thinking about trying somewhere new. We have done Hotel Galvez and Harbor House. Happy with both. Has anyone stayed at Moody Gardens? We come in 2 days early and it looks like this would have a lot of new activities for us. Thanks in advance.
Rare dna1990 Posted July 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2008 Tends to be pricey - but a nice hotel...but I don't know any details on parking, cruise shuttle, etc. You have the aquarium and various exhibits, and not really close enough to walk - but very close by are a water park and a GREAT Air/Flight museum. karenh1127 Posted July 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2008 You have to try the Tremont House! It is only 1 block off the strand near shopping and eating and cruise ships! It is an old historic hotel with tall ceilings, wood floors, iron beds, and floor to ceiling windows. Great place. I stayed at Moody Gardens once and it was ok. Not in my opinion the star rating that they give it. The room had dated furniture and bedding but it may have been renewed since then. They do have that "mini" Titanic exibit till Sept. Schlitterbahn is right there too and might be fun but the tix are $$$ ($34 adults) unless the hotel offers discounts.

wolfganghowell Posted July 25, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted July 25, 2008 Thanks for the info. I think we shall stick with our lovely hosts Hotel Galvez.Yes, Tremont is lovely but we like the pool thing. Plus I was itching to try the spa last time - I had my own private fitness room! :)
mojo boogie Posted July 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 30, 2008 The spa at the Galvez is absolutely divine! That said, you may want to take a second look at the Tremont. It is owned by the same folks as The Galvez, and they share facilities. There is so much more to do downtown, but if you are flying in and stay at the Galvez, there is a shuttle across the street from it, it will take you downtown.
