Platinum/Diamond/+ Party

All people in the cabin should be given the status of the highest member. If you get your room key and find otherwise you need to go to the loyalty ambassdaor. I know this for a fact because as a Diamond I have travelled with several people who are not and were given my status during the cruise. Now in my case the cards have always been correct, but I know people who just had a sticker put on their cards to fix the problem.

That said...even if you are travelling with people in another cabin they will allow them to come to the party with you. You can ask the loyalty ambassador, go to the door with the invitation and ask, etc and they will all give you the same answer.

Our P/D/D+ party this past cruise was a cocktail party before second seating, after first. Yes, of course there are some finger foods and they do hand out very yummy cocktails, but the premise is to hear what the Captain and LA ambassador have to say- to excite you for future cruising with Royal. Also provides current and accurate info on the new ships, itineraries etc...........!!

Anyway, thats what we think. :) :D

to the Platinum and above cocktail party. There was not a welcome back party I guess because it was only a 5 night cruise and on a smaller ship. The invitation specifically stated that only the platinum, D, and D+ members could attend and that we were not permitted to bring any guests. They held it in the Viking Crown Lounge at 11:15 am. We actually arrived early and sat down before everything was set up. At the time it was to start, people who came in were asked for their invitation (we were told to bring it) but I saw no one was actuallyquestioned. If one person in a party showed the invite, everyone with them came in .Our names were printed on the envelope but not on the invite. We were not asked for ours because we were already seated when it started. They served some nice horsderves (sp?) and brought around bloody marys, mimosas, screwdrivers and plain champagne. DH was also offered a Lava Flow and was not charged for it. The officers of the ship (but not the captain because he was actually ill during the cruise) came around and asked us about our experience on the cruise and has we were treated by the staff. There was a piano and violin duo playing some very nice music. We enjoyed it very much. Can't wait for our next one!

Of course you can bring them. RCL wouldn't expect you to come alone and feel awkward all by yourself. It's implied it's for you and a guest. Have you ever recieved an invite from a wedding or party that didn't include you AND a guest.

When I was a Gold member on the short cruises, there was no welcome back party. It sounds to me like if there is a party, it will be for P, D, and D+ members. Also, as a Gold member, I did not receive a welcome back gift on the short cruise.

By the time I sail on the October Cruise, I will have completed 8 cruises so this will be my 9th, one away from Diamond status! RCCL takes care of their returning guests!

Are you saying if friends are traveling together, both get the hightest C and A ranking indicated on the seapass card?? Im pretty sure thats not right...

Doesnt seem right to me..

and if you have friends in another cabin, all of them can go to the party?? I can understand bringing a cabinmate, but not everyone and their brother that are traveling with you..........

I am new to this special "Platinum/Diamond" event. Is this the type of thing that children would be welcome at or is it adults only - just curious...

I have seen kids there, but it is kinda boring for them,I would think.....people are sitting around(or standing) sipping drinks, eating hor d'hoerves listening to quiet type of music........think they wouldnt care for all of it that much, but yes, they can go,

If this is true, I think it is very unfair to those people who have actually earned this status - I, for one, wouldn't dream of asking even when sailing with DS and his family who have a different address. It's those people who take advantage of a perk (e.g., "free" cash in the casinos that now has a 3% surcharge) that make it bad for everyone else.

I wouldn't bring anyone but a cabin mate but that's me. A cabin mate is kinda like an escort, you'd feel funny going alone.

The status is only given for that sailing. It not a matter of being unfair or asking for anything for free, its RCCL's policy...I can tell you I have been on several cruises with people who are gold and platinum and when they get on board their sea pass card already has had diamond on it...again not something I asked for its RCCL's policy so it was done before we even got on the ship. I myself cruised with a diamond plus member and when I got on my card said diamond plus, but again it was just for that sailing.

Still dont agree with it and this is the first I ever heard of it.......so you're telling me if someone is gold/platinum,they have diamond on their card, therefore allowing them the extra bennies(i.e concierge lounge)??

Not right at all.................

I have cruised with friends as cabinmates and they have NEVER had their seapass reflect my status......

My cabin mate on the Freedom was gold member but the Concierge put a Diamond sticker on her seapass,it was only for that one cruise that she was a Diamond member.

My last cruise was our first time as Platinum on the Voyager. I thought it was going to be a little party like some of you have mentioned. It was an elegant sit down dinner with wine and fillet mignon. I was very impressed. There was a couple with five children and you could tell the children were a little bored but very well behaved. :)

If that's the case then I definately need to find some D+ friends to cruise with...but then again no one sailing with me ever had anything on their seapass card but the level they already were...guess I must be on the wrong ships too...

The November cruise will be the first as Platinum. My DD, same address, will be cruising with me. My sister, a gold member, who is in the next cabin, traveling with her special needs daughter, is linked to my reservation. Can we all board at the same time?
