scubadave Posted August 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2008 I am going on my tenth cruise on 8/28/08 and I do not see anywhere in my paper work that I am Platinum.Do they tell you when you check in? I have more then 10 cruises but some of them are before carnival had their computer problems.
BrendaB1 Posted August 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2008 Your docs, whether paper or edocs should say Proceed to VIP check in on the front. You might want to sign up on Carnival website & see if all your cruises are listed.
crookedhalo Posted August 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2008 I believe you will be platinum AFTER you complete your 10th cruise...at least that's the way it works with other lines:o
firefly333 Posted August 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2008 I believe you will be platinum AFTER you complete your 10th cruise...at least that's the way it works with other lines:o I think with Carnival its during the 10th cruise though. One earlier than RCL.
KenMo Posted August 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2008 With Carnival, on your 10th cruise you're Platinum.
CruzVinnieCruz Posted August 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2008 Check your documents for the "proceed to VIP check in" statement and your luggage tags should have VIP printed on them. If not check your cruise history and make sure there are nine previous cruises listed if not it is up to you to provide prove of past sailings. I always make a hard copy of my cruise history and file it just in case Carnival would have problems and lose my history. Also if there are nine previous sailings listed it might not be a bad idea to take a printed copy with you.
Julienatul Posted August 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2008 They did not have my platinum status listed on my 10th cruise. I had to go to the pursers desk once on board and get it changed. I had my printout of my 10 cruises from the website ready. If yours are not all listed online, you need to send in proof such as a ticket stub or ship photo with date printed on it. Although I didnt have much luck getting changed even when I had those. I just had to wait until I had enough in their system. Good Luck, Julie
Cotton Posted August 5, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2008 All above replies correct except that ON the tenth, you're Platinum. They don't have to keep up w/your cruises; you do. You have to have proof, and you don't have much time to get that to them if your cruise is on the 28th. It's a shame you didn't think of this long before now. Better hurry, and good luck.:)
LHP Posted August 5, 2008 #9 Share Posted August 5, 2008 I am going on my tenth cruise on 8/28/08 and I do not see anywhere in my paper work that I am Platinum.Do they tell you when you check in?I have more then 10 cruises but some of them are before carnival had their computer problems. If you have cruises missing before 1990....you will have to have them added. (AND you will have to have proof) Go to http://www.carnival.com Profile Cruise History Add Cruises (add the cruises you do not see listed on your profile) You will need to fax them proof. We used Embarkation pictures (we had to have 8 added) If this will be your 10th cruise WITHOUT the missing cruises....then your documents will have Proceed to VIP Check In. Those are the magic words. I would take a copy of your cruise history (showing your 9 previous cruises) with you. And yes....it is ON your 10th cruise.

CWcruisers Posted August 6, 2008 #19 Share Posted August 6, 2008 And don't forget the priority tender. If you go to St Thomas and have to re-immigrate, you do not have to stand in the long line with everyone else, you meet in a lounge and are escorted to the front of the immigration line. Life is sweet!
southbayer Posted August 6, 2008 #20 Share Posted August 6, 2008 I have 8 cruises in now..... But I have one cruise out of san diego port, and when i get back that same morning, i will be getting on another carnival ship for the 10th. I checked my doc's now for that 10th, my luggage tags don't say VIP. I guess carnival still won't recognize it all till i actually complete that 9th cruise, and check in for the 10th. But I will have my proof with me anyway.
barbevrn Posted August 6, 2008 #21 Share Posted August 6, 2008 Thank you all for your help.I just took another look at my paper work and it does say to proceed to vip ckeck in.I finally made to Platinum. Those are the sweetest words you will ever read or hear if you ever have a ship that has delayed boarding for any reason. For my 10th cruise on the Ecstacy in Feb, there was a delay due to fog. We did not get to board until it was time for us the be sailing away. Meaning the WHOLE ship was there to board at once instead of spread out through the day. The waiting to get into the parking lots had been a mess as well as getting to the terminal from parking. Walking around that corner and seeing rows and rows of folks waiting to board was almost enough to push me over the edge. BUT, the Carnival rep looked at my docs and escorted us to VIP. We were on the ship within 10 minutes. I did feel sorry for the folks that were still boarding 2 hours later. Still do............ but, see it as a benefit of loyalty to Carnival. :D
PCcruiser_x Posted August 6, 2008 #22 Share Posted August 6, 2008 I am going on my tenth cruise on 8/28/08 and I do not see anywhere in my paper work that I am Platinum.Do they tell you when you check in?I have more then 10 cruises but some of them are before carnival had their computer problems. The best way is to keep up to date with a profile on the CCL website. If you know your old booking numbers you can add them. Sometimes this feature does not work properly and you must email CCL with booking number or cruise ship/date/cabin. This takes time and your cruise is close. This may be something that you do when you return. If you kept your old sail and sign cards as souvenirs, bring those on the cruise and when on the ship, bring them to the purser's office. They will print a new Platinum card right there. There is also a guest # at the bottom of the S&S, except for perhaps your first cruise. If this # is the same on all S&S cards, and is present on all of them, CCL is keeping track and you should bring this # with you in case they missed this one. In the future at booking, give this guest# to the PVP and you will receive credit.
