fpat Posted August 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2008 In traveling to Europe does anyone have an idea if July is more popular than August or would you say they are about the same? As far as crowds Cruise deals and price of cabin as well as using miles for air travel? Would you say about the same or do more tavel in July VS August? pvmkmyer Posted August 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2008 I think more Europeans tend to be on vacation in August. Paris and Rome are devoid of locals during this time. The French, in particular, tend to stay within France, so the south of France is packed in August. You will find many closed restaurants and shops. paul929207 Posted August 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2008 I would guess that cruise demand would drop as you head towards the end of August and schools opening.

As far as air fares are concerned, both July and August are peak season so there's unlikely to be much difference there. If you're heading for resorts, in July they are merely packed whereas in August they pack them in like sardines..!! Especially the southern european countries. If you're heading for the major cities, then as mentioned by pvmkmyer, many shops and restaurants close down in August as the locals all holiday then.
