Fighterone Posted August 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2008 We were disappointed to hear through the grapevine that we will now have 2 sea days instead of stopping in Progreso, this December, on the Voyager. RCCL has not told us yet. Progreso has great shopping, cheaper than CZM and is a nice town with 2 markets. Why didn't they cancel the manmade tourist trap of Costa Maya, instead? We wonder. One would think that there maybe some reasons that the cruise industry wants Costa Maya to prosper.... MONEY.... The cruiselines have re-invested several million $'s to re-build CM and now need to re-coup their investment.... Lower or no docking fees and all the stores will now be even more indentured to the cruiselines will repay their investment nicely...
rgtkkb Posted August 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2008 And it seems that a lot of cruisers prefer fake Mexico (Costa Maya) to real Mexico (Progreso and Merida).
Snoozeman Posted August 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Caribbean vs. Gulf of Mexico I like Progreso, but It's much prettier at Costa Maya.
