Question regarding free upgrade

This may be confusing so bare with me.....

 

I booked a cat 6A and was upgraded to a 6C before my cruise was paid off. Now my cruise is paid for and I see that I am eligable for a free upgrade to a 6D. I called and carnival told me that it was only for new bookings. I could pay the extra $20 and get the cat 6D. But it says "FREE upgrade". Should I call and speak with someone else?

Who told you that you would get a free upgrade? Who did you book with? I would call and ask more questions.

 

You can always go to Carnival.com and look up the difference of location from teh 6C to the 6D. Depending on where it is located it might be worth $20.

hatchetjack5 - If you weren't fully paid, and the rates went from a free 6C upgrade, to free 6D upgrade, they'd normally give to the 6D; normally they honor changes in upgrade same as changes to rates. I'd try again and maybe ask to talk with a supervisor. ken

the question big duck is asking, how did you get from 6A to 6C, was it a free upgrade for past guests right, so now you get 3 cat upgrade with the code on your cruise, i.e. from a 6A to a 6D?

 

I cant tell from your answers either. It cant be a free upgrade from a 6C to 6D, thats what he is trying to figure out. It is from 6A to 6D right? ... and the price on the 6A has not gone up?? if the price now on a 6A is more than you paid, then no you couldnt get it.

 

So, the second question is has the price gone up. If its the same, then you would still have to pay for the higher fuel surcharge if thats gone up.

Stick with the 6C! You will have cabins above and below you on your cruise. With a 6D, you may be below the galley, showroom, etc. It's not worth it! You only paid for a 6A so you need to base your price point and upgrades from that category too. If you want to push the issue for a 6D you will probably get it, but personally, I would stick with the Upper deck over the Empress!
