sapphire22 Posted April 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Hi, Has anyone recently taken the rainforest tour in San juan? A few questions: The tour is almost as long as our stop. Is there any chance of missing the boat? Do we need insect repellant? Should we wear long pants to ward off bug bites? How comfrotable is the bus? Is it air conditioned and safe? thanks in advance. Cloudmaster Posted April 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2004 You won't miss the boat as long as you book through them. If you book on your own, there is always that chance, but I would not be too concerned about it. Florida Beach Posted April 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We did. It was fun and safe. They offered 2 tours when we were on our cruise (8:30AM and 2:30PM). The bus ride was 1 hour long each w ay. Once you get there, there will be some walking on level terrain. We selected the 2:30 PM tour, there were no insects. The bus ride was OK with AC but the weather was so pleasant, I wish the driver would turn off the AC and let us open the windows. Plan for a solid 4 hours. Have a good trip. March 28, 2004 - Mariner of the Seas
Nanatravel Posted April 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We just took the ship's Rainforest tour on our last Celebrity (sister line) cruise. The motor coaches were all very modern, airconditioned and the driver also narrated along the way. We made one stop for a "rest break" when refreshments or souviners could be purchased then it was onto the Rainforest. We climbed the old lookout towere, walked through a part of the forest, and stopped for a good photo opportunity at Coca Falls. All together we probably stopped 4-5 times. It was a great way to spend time in San Juan, especially with a tight schedule or since we have been there several times before. I too believe the price was right per person. No bug spray was necessary also, but do wear sneakers or comfortable walking shoes. If you take a later tour, you will have time to do a self guided walking tour into OSJ.
