hatchetjack5 Posted August 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2008 you loose it.............right? I have saved a CHUNK of money so far, and it just keeps falling. Some of the excursions that we were going to do has come to a screaching hault because my dad broke his hip yesterday and our cruise is about a week away and I am not a big drinker so...... I am sure I will just forfeit it, but thought I would ask.
mamasue Posted August 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I think you should get a cheque back on the last night.
BND Posted August 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2008 We put everything on a cc so I have never experienced it. From everything I've read on here, they issue a check on the last night to anyone with cash left on their S&S. Can you imagine how much money they could make off of what some people have left? CT Cruiser10 Posted August 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I believe that you can apply it towards your auto-tips. Maybe you can use some extra towards a special dinner. Does your cruise ship have the cost-extra restaurant? I would think that you are going to lose it, so I would spend as much as possible. I am also not a drinker, but I do drink alot of N/A frozen drinks, so I would recommend some of those.

I believe the the OP is discussing an on-board credit, not money left over that they put on when they got there. I would think that most OBC get used. LHP Posted August 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I would gamble it in the casino on the last night, before I would lose it!!!
beccadoby Posted August 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I think you are talking about OBC you got because of price drops correct? If so, use it or loose it. Buy pics- I would say that is the best way to use extra money onboard! As far as money on accounts, if you have added the money, you will get back whatever you dont use. If its OBC an agency gave you as a promotion or because of drops, you will need to use it all. Remember, this CAN be used to pay gratuities. rdytocruz Posted August 29, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2008 What about using it in the casino? There is no law that says you can't put in in your casino account and then play a bit and cash out. Do you think this would work?
lcseale53 Posted August 29, 2008 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Here is the response from my PVP "ON BOARD CREDIT SHOULD BE USED, IF NOT IT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED" On a previous cruise we amassed a total of $380 OBC before we boarded, and wondered the same thing. We received a check attached to the billing statement on the last night of our last cruise for $140. Leon
kermer Posted August 29, 2008 #12 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Maybe OP should ask when they get onboard. That will probably be the only way they will know for sure.
lcseale53 Posted August 29, 2008 #13 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Policy may have changed since then. One should never be allowed off the ship with that much OBC remaining anyway . I promise to do better this year. Leon
big_duck Posted August 29, 2008 #14 Share Posted August 29, 2008 All OBCs are not created equal any that are not your money (booking bonus, shareholder credit) are not refundable. Any that are your money (pre-paid, price drops) are refundable.
Gayle V Posted August 29, 2008 #15 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I have to agree with rdytocruz, Some onboard credits are refundable, and some not, so no matter how you got them, either spend them or go to the casino and buy some chips with your card, then cash them in. Snoozeman Posted August 29, 2008 #18 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I've always received all of mine back irregardless of the type of OBC.
victory2020 Posted August 29, 2008 #19 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Your 1st statement will tell you if the credits are refundable or not. If not ( I have always found any credits I have gotten are refundable) go to the casino as others have stated, but don't buy chips (15% fee) load your card with slot machine credit, then cash out - no fees involved. CGinMTL Posted August 29, 2008 #20 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Before you spend money that could be refundable. Take 2 min on the 2nd day on board ( 1st day is usually busy) and ask the front desk. They will tell you EXACTLY what will happen to your unused OBC and then you can make an informed decision.
montekat Posted August 29, 2008 #21 Share Posted August 29, 2008 We sailed in April of this year and received a check on the last morning for all of the onboard credit that was unused. It was for being a shareholder and OBC from our TA.
