Princess-of-Quite-alot Posted November 8, 2008 Author #27 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Thanks murphysmum for your post, even though it got deleted. I will post the info which should be ok to post: About the restaurant and what we ate..... There were so many small dishes (mezes?) that I can't remember all of them, but I can tell you that each one was perfectly prepared and well enjoyed. Many of them had Turkish names and were new to me, but I'll list all that I can remember. In approximate order...olives, cheeses, pickles, cucumber yogurt with pita breads, hummus, many kinds of dolmas, baba gannus, moussaka, zucchini flowers with rice and cheese, chopped vegetable salad, Turkish style crepes, lamb, pilaf with veg and meat kabobs, fruits, and several other things that I just can't remember. We were offered a huge plate of pastries and I remember having one delicious one stuffed with pistachios and a bit of halva. I know that our guide had originally planned for us to have lunch in another town; we wanted lunch when we got to Sirince and he got on his phone and called and ordered this meal so they started serving when we arrived. I hope that this is helpful. We've traveled a lot, don't usually stop for large lunches, but in this case, the two hours was well spent as we enjoyed the scenery, atmosphere, excellent food and even the resident cats. Enjoy your trip! murphysmum (Janed)
Princess-of-Quite-alot Posted November 9, 2008 Author #28 Share Posted November 9, 2008 Janed, Do you remember the cost of your lunch?
murphysmum Posted November 9, 2008 #29 Share Posted November 9, 2008 Hi... I don't have any idea what it cost. Sorry. Lunch was included in the cost of our tour for four people. If I remember correctly, the tour was somewhere between $4-500 for 8 hours, which turned into about 9 1/2 hrs. After seeing all of the sights we wanted to shop. As, I think, the guide receives a margin of the profits from the shops, he was in no hurry to end the tour...written with a smile. He took us exactly where we wanted to go and there was absolutely no pressure. We were very pleased with the places he chose, so it was win-win for all of us. Best, Janed
MERLOTCHAMPAGNE Posted November 10, 2008 #30 Share Posted November 10, 2008 Murphysmum, Your tour including the restaurant sounds perfect for what we are interested in doing when we visit Ephesus next October. Would you mind sharing who you booked that with?
