Platinum Members HELP!

Recommended Posts

I was wondering ...

I am leaving on the Adventure of the Seas on 14 November and was wondering since this is my first cruise as a Platinum Crown and Anchor member how embarkation works. Since we are going out of San Juan - is there a Platinum embarkation lounge there? Where is it? How do I get to it? Do I just say I am a Platinum member and they will let me in?! :D

Any help would be appreciated!

Bobby

Was there twice in 2002, and things may have changed since then. There was no Platinum C&A lounge. We sat in the chairs in the waiting area and an RCI person called out for diamomnd/plat and suite pax for check in. Then others were called after that. We arrived around 11AM, were let into the waiting area at 1130, and were onboard at 1200.

The real advantage you'll now have is on debarkation. There is lounge for diamond/plat C&A members to wait in with coffee, juice and pastries. Ours was a room just off the main dining room. It's a nice touch, especially if there is a delay.

There should be a sign that says "Platinum, Diamond, and Suites" and you just go to that area. Any of the RC people there will be able to tell you where to go. I've never had any problems finding the sign wherever we embark. The people there are always happy to help you.

It did with us in San Juan, but others have said no to various ports. IN SJ, we arrived to be one of the first, sat on first row and then were called up with the JS and above plus Platinum and Diamond members. We were the only ones on the front row to get up and check-in...it was great! :D

In Vancouver, it didn't matter what we were, everyone was handed a number and then they started calling those #'s. We were about the 4th number called and we arrived at 10:30 am.

We have always had good luck with C&A embarkation. It depends on how crowded it is when you check in. The less crowded the less difference, the more crowded the greater. We are sailing on the AOS on November 14 also, as first time Diamond members. I hope it works out well for all of us.:)

We sailed on the Adventure out of San Juan on 9/12/04. It was our first cruise as Platinum C&A members. We flew in on the day of the cruise, so we did not arrive at the pier until after boarding had already begun. When we were dropped off by our taxi there was a huge line of people waiting in to give their bags to porters and then a second very long line to actually check-in. Near the door leading inside to the check-in line there was a sign saying something to the effect of "Platinum, Diamond and Suite Guest drop-off luggage here" -- we walked over to the sign, but there was not an RCCL or port attendant there -- we asked an RCCL employee who walked by what we should do and he immediately stopped what he was doing, instructed us to leave our bags by the sign (an act of which we were hesitant because we were literally just leaving the bags in the middle of the sidewalk by the sign beside a line of people waiting to give their bags to a porter), he then escorted us to the door, told us to jump in the line in front of all the other people, then pointed us toward the Platinum/Diamond/Suite check-in counter. We got out of our taxi around 4:30 pm and were in our cabin by 4:50 pm. The process was smooth and we did get all our bags without a problem -- But you do need to look for the sign -- we easily could have gotten in the porter line and not seen the Platinum C&A sign until we were almost to the porters if we had not made an effort to look for the sign before getting in line.

Yes..there IS a sign for Crown & Anchor PLATINUM/DIAMOND members and Suite guests. Be sure to look for it. We were there in July, and just as we were about to go in the building, they closed the doors and stopped letting people in (never did understand why they closed the doors as there were less than 100 people in there and plenty of chairs). We waited about 10 minutes when I asked someone about being a platinum (and suite) member and he let us right in. There is an area specifically marked for C&A platinum/diamond/suite holders. Then you go sit in a marked off area and that group is the first to board the ship. And yes...junior suites count as priority check in. My relative travelling with us were not Crown & Anchor members but because they were in junior suites, so they were able to be in the same priority area as us.
