npphotog Posted October 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2004 Wife and I are going with Vantage next August 1st on a cruise from Holland to Hungary. Wondered if Hungary accepts euros or do I have to get euros changed into local currency when buying small gifts, wine and such. Willard

carlmm Posted October 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2004 To clarify: Hungary is not part of the Euro zone. The currency is the Forint. Nevertheless many vendors are happy to accept Euros. But they do not have to and if you should venture to more rural areas they are less likely to do.
marco Posted October 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2004 Also, virtually everyone accepts US $$$$$. In most shops in Budapest, prices were in Florins, Euros and Dollars.
npphotog Posted October 27, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted October 27, 2004 Thanks to all of the above for your answers. Would not want to be in Hungary and not able to buy a glass of wine. Willard
