martyz Posted September 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Are the balcony doors sliding or actual door that open out? Can you keep the door open at night? Will the AC shut off when the door is open? Thanks for taking time to answer my questions!
Spender Nui Posted September 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Open out doors. If you prop it open I don't think the AC will shut off but its efficiency will be reduced.

Will the AC shut off when the door is open? Thanks for taking time to answer my questions! They're hinged, not sliding. You should not prop the door open at any time, because it messes up the air flow for everybody in your HVAC zone. This is particulary unfair to the people in any inside cabins in your zone, who suffer from lack of air while the loss of back-pressure lets it escape out your door. The a/c can not be shut off completely; it will always circulate air.
RuthC Posted September 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2008 To reiterate what John said: Will the AC shut off when the door is open? Yes, the A/C will shut off in my cabin, if I happen to be on the same line. Please don't leave your door open.
martyz Posted September 7, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted September 7, 2008 OK - if this is true, I won't. But, on the other ships, it didn't seem to be the same. The A/C only shut in my cabin.
RuthC Posted September 7, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2008 But, on the other ships, it didn't seem to be the same. The A/C only shut in my cabin. This is true on all HAL ships. With all due respect, how would you know whether or not the A/C shut off in other cabins if you had the door open in yours? You wouldn't be in the other cabins.
