Inside Cabin VS Obstruted View Cabin on Monarch

I have been in the deck 8 cabins on Sovereign & would book them over an inside... pricewise they are sometimes even cheaper than an inside... I just like being able to peek outside & see what the weather is like...plus deck 8 is VERY convienent...:D

The window is really only good for letting in natural light anyway--they are not positioned for "viewing", regardless of any obstructions!

If you want natural light in the room, book the OV. They are a bit larger (about 3 sq. ft.) than an inside cabin!

There are several cabins on deck 8 that are only minimally obstructed. Someone may post a JPG of deck 8 with the least obstructed cabins highlighted. I was on Sovereign (sister ship to Monarch) in cabin 8034 last month and that cabin was between lifeboats, so we had a pretty good view. Other posters have said, and I agree, deck 8 OV cabins are the best deal on the Sovereign class.

I've had OV on decks 4, 5 and 8; and and inside on deck 5. Don't waste your money on the "view" there isn't much of one, especially if it's the three day trip to Ensenada. The only thing a window is good for is letting the light in and so you can check the weather outside. Go for whatever is higher up on your list of priorities - price or location.

We've done deck 4 outside right behind the elevators and location was great. A 30 second walk to the dining room! Deck 8 was also convenient to either go up a few flights to the pool or down a few to the shops and casino. My only issue with deck 8 was the elevators. If I was lazxy and didn't feel like walking up three flights to the windjammer or pool the elevators were usually full by the time they reached deck 8. A lower deck was better to have not so full elevators. There were a few times we went down first to go up!

On our next trip (and last on the Monarch:( before they take her away from us) we have an OV deck 7, right nect to the outside doors. I'm declaring that deck 7 is my balcony and will find a few deck chairs and make myself at home on my "private" deck. The only thing I don't think I'll like is that I will need to keep my drapes closed as you can see right in the room. I liked keeping them open all the time on the other decks as no one could see in the room.

I even enjoyed our inside cabin. The room was much cooler than any outside room we've had. It was nice and dark for sleeping too.

I don't think there's a "bad" room on any cruise ship. You are, after all, on a cruise.

We always get Cabin 8540. Very little obstruction and right in the middle of the ship by the elevators. Plus you get to go to Voltage for Muster instead of having to go outside. We have this room booked for 5 trips next year on Monarch.

You mean Boleros??? I've never been in Voltage.....thats new to me.....

In Aug ,we were on deck 5 and went to Boleros for muster........they take a few cabins from several decks for muster in there............

I see you're doing MN for the 4th...we did SS this past Fourth and you can see the fireworks up and down the coast...

What are everyone opinion of getting an inside cabin vs a Deck 8 Obstructed view cabin on Monarch of the seas? I know is not much view from the window due to the lift boat, but is it worth it?

It's always worth it to have natural daylight. Your circadian rhythm will thank you:D

I don't have pictures, but I have a list of minimally obstructed cabins on Sovereign. Hopefully the list applies to Monarch also. but I don't know for sure.
