heheheheheh...ya'll know I'm joking...but there is a bit a truth...just keep your eye on the 5 year old who sneezes then presses every elevator button.

kids will be kids :p
Not to mention the handles on the ice cream machines.......as they fill their cones, lick the ice cream off their fingers, and fill one more time:cool:

Oh and let's not forget about the slot machines.......you can literally see the fingerprints on those suckers:D
Last year was our first Cruise, we were on the Triumph.

I was shocked how FILTHY the necks of the life jackets were!

We leave the 21st on the Legend and I am actually dreading the thought of the life jacket more than the muster drill.

Anyone else find this a problem on other ships?

(I am taking anti bacterial spray and wipes this year)
I try to keep my BAC above 0.08%, I'm a walking Lysol can.:D

Geez, I have cruised over 20 times, have you beat but the same, I never gave it a second thought. Do all you germ worriors have any idea how many places there are little creatures crawling all over? You can continue to wipe down the remote control, the bathroom fixtures, the phone, pull back the spread, and wipe down the desk and furn, have you thought about renting a rug shampooer before you move into your cabin? Common sense is one thing, of course washing hands, using the sanitizers in the buffets, etc is only smart, but how did you reach adulthood without all these wipes? I would hope you don't like the casinos, can you imagine the germs on the slots or how about the menus? Be sure and wipe them down. Of course there are the turnpikes when you enter a sporting event and lets not forget to wipe down the magazines on the airplanes before you pick one up to glance through.

I'm with the OP, I have seen some down right nasty dirty life vests. I just got one of the other ones and then told our room steward. He switched the dirty one out.

Now for gross, how bout that first night when your really tired cause you've had a long exciting day getting on board. You get in bed fluff up your pillow and ewwwwwww, it smells like a sweat ball!!! Thank goodness they have extras in the room.

Carry on with the previously scheduled discussion............:p

There wasn't enough al-kee-hol to drown out that smell.....

Sorry Gargoyle, hope you weren't eating dinner! :oI bring a can of lysol spray. I don't care if it helps or not, I feel better about it. However, I was busted by the room steward as I was spraying down the bed. He asked if everything was ok. Said, yes, thank you.............

In the event of a real emergency, will you (general you) hold up the lines so that you can locate your Clorox wipes to wipe your life vest off before you put it on? Would you actually take the time to DO it?!? Sheesh....You'd better hope that little pop up dispenser you're toting everywhere will make you float too. Because if you're in front of me wiping your vest down and holding up my getting off a sinking ship, you're going over!

Germaphobia cracks me up to no end. Reasonable measures (such as washing after using the restroom) is one thing...but come on already!! All this antibacterial agent using, Lysol spraying, hand sanitizing frenzy is going to do is cause more super bugs that are immune to the agents meant to destroy them.

I have a compromised immune system (SLE) so I know how important being 'safe' is. But this whole "wipe everything" craze is getting out of hand!
That does it, I am taking latex gloves with me from now on.;)
I hope you are kidding. Lots of folks are very allergic to latex. I am one of them. I take meds to help counter act the latex allergen due to the fact that those gloves are sometimes used in food prep.

I am highly allergic to latex as well, and dust not just your regular allergy to dust, but breathing problems, hives and swelling, and had to fill out a medical form with the cruise lines stating so..with my Dr.'s Signature, they will be doing a "special" cleaning of our cabin..it probably means we'll be the last ones to get our cabin.like midnight...but as long as they do there best that's all I care about..life is full of those germs, but as for the rest of the ship well I'll just have to take my chances, like I do in hotel rooms etc..spend as much time out of the cabin or on the balcony as possible..I do take lysol wipes, and have my own purell always at hand, but still go to casinos, etc..you can't avoid it..you can only live with it and hand washing goes a long long way..

But I did think that the suggestion for putting the paper that would be used for the toilet seat around the life jacket is a pretty smokin idea..

Thank you to all who would rather attack me with accusations that I am OCD than simply comment of the fact that we found our life jackets to be filthy around the neck.

So I prefer not to have that next to my skin, much in the same way you would not sit on visibly dirty toilet stool.

I am not a trouble maker, I am not OCD and I never said a word to Carnival. I was simply wondering if anyone else had come across this. Nothing less and nothing more.

I now remember why it is I seldom post and simply lurk here. I have seen it time and time again, people would rather attack a poster than respond to their post with reason.

Did I say I wipe everything? I am just going to clean the neck of my jacket if it is dirty on this cruise. Muster drills are NOT emergencies and in the event of one I would put on the jacket dirty or not. I don't walk around with a box of wipes, I mentioned nothing about cleaning everything.

I am not a germaphobe, I just prefer not to put something visibly dirty on. I have common sense and if it were an emergency I would not give it a second thought to put the jacket on.

I think people on this board LIKE to attack others and blow a statement out of proportion.
