Euros ok in Budapest?

Hi

We arrive in Budapest on a Sunday at 11 and will drop off our 'stuff' on the Amacello and look around in the PM. We are there all the next day too.

Will Euros be acceptabe or should we get the local currency (forint).

Can we exchange our Euros on the boat?

What would be a reasonable amount (I realise that's pretty vague)?

Hi, we were just in Budapest in August on APT "Sound of Music" Amersterdam to Istanbul cruise. We had no problems using euros in Budapest, though in smaller places like Pecs they generally preferred forints. Thought things were expensive though. There was no currency exchange on the ship, but plenty of ATMs in the city.

When you put in your ATM card you can choose English language.

Make sure you have a 4 digit pin and call your ATM card bank before you leave on your trip.

Most big hotels have an ATM in the lobby area. I prefer using the ATM's in the lobby of a hotel istead of a machine on the streets.

We were is Budapest this summer.

 

We paid for Zona Taxi from airport in Euros. We used ATM for to purchase "fonts".

 

They are needed for subway & many museums. Also used at market!!!
