Dunmore2 Posted September 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2008 We will be eating in the early (main) seating on the Serena, sailing out of Venice and have heard conflicting times as to when these dining times are .eg. 6:30 and 7:30. Perhaps one is the time for dining in the Caribbean and the other for Europe. Will someone please clarify?
kasi1979 Posted September 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2008 Actually, my experience is: It is not that easy. Generally costa states a rule of thumb, that first seating is about 6:30 pm, actually, it depends on the demographics on board. We´ve had every dinner time from 5:45 to 7:00 for first seating, which means second seating starting between 8 pm and 9:30 pm. As we are taking the Serena cruise in november, I´d be glad to hear back from you, what your experiences were.

billyelliot Posted September 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2008 Hi Did people dress up? Tux etc. Also would you advise buying turkish lira? Thanks we go next week :D
jiiimse Posted September 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Informal evenings there were more people dressed more casually than previous ships i have been on, a sisn of the times maybe. Formal nights Tuesday and Friday, most people were dressed up , but not OTT. Turkish Lira, most places accept Euros. The only place we required it for was Haghia Sophia. Dunmore2 Posted September 19, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Thanks for all your input. It is wonderful to have recent first-hand information. What time did you board the ship in Venice? Any must-try (or must-avoid) dishes on the menu?
