ss-sunset Posted April 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2004 What companies sell this? We are looking at buying this separate from the cruise price itself.
Sheffie Posted April 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2004 I have used AccessAmerica. Haven't had to put in a claim, but have heard of others who did and it worked for them. Their website is www.accessamerica.com I am sure that other people have other ones to recommend.
bab Posted April 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Try insuremytrip.com -- they have different plans/companies and compares them for you.
Nanatravel Posted April 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2004 The web site, insuremytrip.com is the best way to shop and compare cruise travel insurance coverage for your needs. We have used Travelguard and Travelex which we found to be all encompassing and reasonable versus our cruise vacation investment. Compare features of each policy before you buy. Travelguard was not insuring flights booked on US Air last time I purchased, so be aware of airlines that my not warrent coverage. Travel insurance is worth the price for your peace of mind. Chuck & Phyllis Posted April 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We usually just take the cruise lines insurance. They're coming down in price and somehow we feel that we can raise hell with the cruise line if we have problems with their carrier. Also, some are giving cruise credit for losses not covered by the carrier. On our upcoming cruise it was $79 pp. It's $59 pp at one of the private carriers. Yes, 40 bucks is 40 bucks, but we still like knowing that the cruise line's reputation rests behind the carrier, so it's worth it to us. Just glad that we never had to use it. pattymo Posted April 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2004 MY TA told me that with RCCl's insurance is that it does not cover prexisting conditions,or for flights even when picked and paid for at the time the ressies are made. I selected it anyway as it was for a short cruise cheaper than the other companies. They will give you 75% credit towards a future cruise for uncovered reasons. Chuck & Phyllis Posted April 14, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Which insurance will cove pre-existing conditions? How much extra do they charge for that coverage? Chuck & Phyllis
D4 Posted April 14, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Someone said TravelGuard wasn't insuring flights on a certain airline. That's true, sort of. I think all the companies have lists of travel providers that they won't cover in case of certain things such as strikes or bankruptcy. But they'll still cover them if they experience a normal travel delay. I've used TravelGuard, AccessAmerica, and Travelex. Go to wwww.insuremytrip.com and read the fine print for each policy. I don't buy through the cruise line because I want to cover flights that I book separately. We're a family of 4 so the air is expensive too.
