Has anyone out there done a scavenger hunt with your family on your cruise? We are taking our kids on their first cruise this spring and we are a little worried that they might get "bored" with nothing to do. My kids will be 22 (dd), 16 and 9 (ds') (yes I know, we have a big spread in our kids ages but I was in the Navy and came home to "port" every 6 or 7 years :D jk) If I incorporate some of the Carnival staff such as the bartender's (for the 22 year old), the purser, the room steward, etc... do you think they would help out? We have done this idea before and the kids really enjoyed it especially if there was a monetary reward at the end. Any feedback would be a

No, never done this. Seems as if it would encourage running around inside the ship, and I don't want my kids doing this.

They were never bored on sea days as there was lots to do. They could go to the kid's club, read, participate in activities, hang out with mom and dad, swim, etc.

I think this is a great idea. I have seen other families doing scavenger hunts on past cruises. Have you tried using the search engine? You also might want to post this under the regular ship's section of cc. You might get a better response there.

Gatorgirl--

If you're traveling Carnival, there's no need to go to so much extra work. They already have a FAMILY Scavenger Hunt on Sea Days. We've participated in the past as a family, and found that it was a lot of fun. We had to collect things like:

5 signatures from the staff

The name of a dancer

The name of a staff member from Russia

A casino chip

A bar napkin

The name of the restaurant on deck 12

Etc, etc

A hairbrush

A pillowcase

etc....

The best was needing to find a male wearing lipstick. So, I loaded up my lips w/lipstick, then kissed my DS on the forehead. It worked!

And--don't be too worried about being bored on Sea Days. We've had many a Carnival Sea Day and there are always lots of other fun things to do.

We did an impromptu scavenger hunt with our kids on our cruise a few weeks ago. On a piece of paper I jotted down about 15 things we had seen arond the ship, sent the kids off with the digital camera and they enjoyed it.

Have fun!

We generally do a "treasure hunt" one of the later days of the crew. Similar to mc5fam, I look for some unique features (on RCCI the artwork in the public areas is always great fodder!) and give my DD and her friends clues and they have to figure out and find what I'm thinking about

The teen clubs also sponsor photo scavenger hunts.

It is a great time

Having cruised only once before, I don't remember participating in anything like this and it sounded like a good idea, I guess I must have read about it on these boards somewhere. Anyway, thanks for the input and good ideas, I will probably put something together on my own and also participate in the ship activity as well.
