CaliforniaDreamer Posted August 14, 2014 #3151 Share Posted August 14, 2014 I didnt' see your post but luckily i checked NCL today just for the heck of it and found the sailing i wanted for my birthday ( the 9/20-9/27/14 sailing) now has no single supplement. The last time i checked it was like $1300. I booked a BA Balcony. NCL has it for $823.92 total. You can save a little if you book a guaranty at a lower level Balcony. It took me most of the day to book while checking around for discounts and trying to figure out the location and cabin i wanted to choose. Lots of cruise critic searching. Searching airfares and so on. Be sure to follow the booking steps in the quote, as you wont find it otherwise and some travel sites arent aware of the balcony upgrade. My cabin is near the solo lounge so i can go to the gatherings. Anyone now where i can go to see which cabins have the bed by the balcony versus the door? Maybe i should have waited to book but since i didnt jump on the Breeze deals, i decided not to procrastinate on this one. Read on. Prices are lowered today. The studios for this sailing is $499 plus tax. My balcony went down about $60. I might upgrade to a large balcony cabin if that price comes down to match mine. Though i am happy with my cabin and location at this time. I certainly dont need a mini-suite being solo, it's just a larger cabin with the same size balcony as mine. Got Tequila? Posted August 15, 2014 #3152 Share Posted August 15, 2014 Just checked fares on some of the Norwegian Getaway for September. September 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise... http://www.ncl.com/vacations/norwegi...cedSearch=true Once you get past the pricing grid you will see the actual pricing on cabins and on the September 27th date, and others, you will see balcony pricing less than the studio cabin. $639 for a balcony cabin for 1, plus taxes....$499 plus taxes for an ocean view, $449 plus for an inside....Studio is still at $699. Definitely worth checking out if you can get away next month. :)
saatuk Posted August 16, 2014 #3153 Share Posted August 16, 2014 Azamara is running 125% on 'selected cruises'. I just booked the Nov 2015 TA on Azamara Journey at the 125% rate.
Steeler Nation At Sea Posted August 16, 2014 #3154 Share Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) I am seeing a 25% reduction in supplement on the Norwegian Escape Maiden TA Oct. 29, 2015 for all available categories below the Haven. Still no "bargain" but every little bit helps. I haven't called so I am not sure about the terms and whether it applies if I am already booked. colibri93 Posted August 23, 2014 #3162 Share Posted August 23, 2014 Carnival single occupancy deal is back up. A lot of the upper/lowers are gone but I'd still check to see if anything is available if there's a sailing in there you like. https://www.goccl.com/~/media/GOCCL/Files/Sales/SingleOccupancy1.ashx Hi! I am new at this with Carnival. I like to cruise solo and am looking for specials. Can you please tell me, what does upper/lower mean? Many thanks, Hendrika
cruise pup Posted August 23, 2014 #3163 Share Posted August 23, 2014 Hi! I am new at this with Carnival. I like to cruise solo and am looking for specials. Can you please tell me, what does upper/lower mean? Many thanks, Hendrika Hi Henrika. Upper/lower means bunk beds. This is opposed to having 2 beds on the floor. These are the lowest price cabins on Carnival (unless they are offering a special on higher categories). I find these cabins to be great as a single. You actually get a lot more floor space than in the standard inside cabins. And although the category is considered an inside, some of the upper/lower cabins are ocean view with 2 portholes instead of a picture window. These are the best buy unless, like I already said, there's a special on a higher category. But these 1A's with portholes tend to sell out quickly. Yep, I am familiar with them. I had one on the Victory. But as you must know, they are very difficult to snag. It also had a negative impact on my cruise which I cannot discuss here. Nothing horrible, just disappointing. :D Edited August 23, 2014 by cruise pup

cruise pup Posted August 24, 2014 #3172 Share Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) I can't find such a special, even using VIFP number. Lowest is $798 inside for single. Is there a special url? Cairnmom didn't mention that this is by invitation. They're not offering it to everyone. I received an email. Others said they noticed it online under Special Offers in the VIFP Club section. You'll find that by clicking on the Manage tab on the top . Apparently it was first offered to Diamond members. Then to select Platinum and Gold members. There's a thread on the Carnival board about this: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2090325 There are actually 3 cruises being offered. The Splendor 8-night Cairnmom mentioned. Then there are 2 4-night Bahamas cruises out of Miami on the Ecstasy and the Victory. They are all the same deal. You pay $200. and get $200. in obc for an inside cabin. Just pay the port fees and if you want an upgrade to an o/v or balcony that's extra. Well, I hope you get the offer. I think as people pass on it they may extend the offer to more people. I don't know if calling Carnival would do you any good but you might want to mention that others are receiving this offer and you would book if it was made available to you. There were other free cruises offered in the past and I wasn't offered them despite my loyalty to the Carnival brand. Apparently they were offering them to past passengers who hadn't cruised with Carnival in a long time. Also from what I understand others got it because of their enormous on board charges and casino play. You only find the daily service charge on mine. :D Good luck! What I think NCL is doing is making sure that unlike their last Maiden Voyage which sailed only 1/2 full - they want a body in every cabin if not every bed. Unfortunately, my lovely cabin is not on sale.... -Holly who is treating herself but perhaps should reconsider? Nah - you turn 65 only once...
