nhmrm Posted September 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2008 We are taking a seven day cruise from Amsterdam to Basel starting October 18th. Does anyone know the approximate peak season for the area? I have moved from NH to FL and miss the fall so I am hoping to see some nice colors on my cruise. Thank you. orchestrapal Posted September 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2008 Enjoy your cruise but don't expect New England colors in Europe! You will see many beatiful evergreens and leafless trees and maybe some color but it's nothing like what we get on the East Coast.

Copy that. We just left northern Wisconsin which this year has some eye-popping color, but our 12/07 and 10/07 cruises East and West out of Budapest were underwhelming colorwise. nhmrm Posted September 29, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted September 29, 2008 Oh well, I guess there are not many places that can compare to New England, but there will still be a lot of fall color when compared to Florida! :D
Seabee Posted September 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2008 I just got back from Rhine River cruise yesterday and commented several times that in a couple of weeks the leaves would be pretty. Lots of Maples and hardwood trees with just a hint of color. I'd think by Oct 18 it should be as good as it will get.

Konarina Posted October 17, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2008 Just returned from Budapest-Amsterdam river cruise and colors were very nice & more than we expected. Of course it's not like New England or even the Pacific NW, but you'll probably be pleasantly surprised.
Louise22 Posted October 18, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 18, 2008 Just returned yesterday (October 16th) and the colors were lovely but still some to go for the best. They were saying that the color is early this year because of a very cold, wet September.
