Which is a prettier beach Malibu or Boatyard?

I'm just going on the color of water, sand, tropical feel, etc.... I know Boatyard is loud and busy. I cannot decide between these 2. I either want to do the Boatyard cat cruise with turtles or go to Malibu and hope a vendor is around to bring us out to the turtles.

Was that near the boatyard? Were there vendors that would take you out to the turtles (that is the most important thing we want to do no matter where we go). Thanks so much!!! I can't wait til February.

To be frank, your Turtle Quest is a West Coast thing.

 

Although pretty in the picture -and it usually is

Carlisle Bay is not-quite-West Coast(it's not South Coast either..it 'divides' the two..)

so you may want to head for Holetown Beach or Paynes Bay to get the Turtlemania out of your system first

before heading back in the general direction of the ship and Carlisle Bay

where you'll be within sight of the ship -in the distance- and a short cab ride away!

 

Don't forget that the $15 admission that Boatyard charges you guys

also gets you a ride back to the ship at the end of the day

when you're all sunned-out, rumpunched-out! :)

 

Yes, Boatyard can be loud and noisy in the bldg., but out on the beach it's okay.

And Carlisle Bay is one BIG beach, about 2 miles long

so you can mosey on several hundred yards away on your towel, if you want to.

Is it okay to take kids (ages 9 and 7) to the boatyard, or is it more geared towards adults? I was thinking of going with the family there in the morning and leaving by early afternoon.

Its fantastic for kids..They have water trampolines and an inflatable iceburg for them to climb..And they are included in your ticket price..They will love it:)

'As the crow flies' ..about 1.5 miles?

 

You can actually see the ships from Boatyard, or from a little further along Boatyard's beach

(..which is sweeping Carlisle Bay to be more accurate)

 

 

Fire up Google Earth and go take a look!

That's by far the easiest way to answer any questions of this nature!

We all want to go to the boat yard after the tour and meet up with the rest of our group not doing the tour. I can't find where the tour drops you off, it just says beach. Anyone know???:confused:

Here is the e-mail I received back from them...

 

Thanks for your email, here at The Boat Yard we offer a great Beach Package

suitable for the whole family or couples. The cost is US $20per person

whether child or adult and includes the following:

 

Welcome drink on arrival,

Unlimited use of the beach chairs, restrooms, showers, changing rooms, use

of Non-motorised water sports like the Iceberg Slide, Ocean Trampolines,

Rope Swing, there is also a Bar and a Restaurant that make up part of our

Facility. Umbrellas are not included in the entrance fee; to rent one the

cost is 2us and it covers 2 persons comfortably.

 

 

Transportation back to the Cruise Ship terminal is free of charge; our

shuttles start at 1pm and go every 15 minutes until 4pm. You are issued a

wristband which allows you to go in and out of the property as you wish;

this has to be worn at all times.

 

Reservations are not required and we open at 9am, we are about 7-10 minutes

drive from the Cruise Terminal by taxi.

Motorised water activities as well as snorkeling are also available for

rental on the beach.

Jet skis are roughly around 50us for 1/2 hour, Snorkeling about 15us per

person and parasailing about 60us per person these however are operated by

independent persons on the beach.

 

The Boatyard also offers a Catamaran Lunch Cruise daily from 9.30am to

2.30pm. It's a 5 hour cruise that includes food, unlimited drinks, two

snorkel stops one which allows you to swim with turtles and another over an

active wreck and reef, which provide lots of fun for the" water

enthusiasts"

or total relaxation for those who prefer to "just get away from it

all" and

be pampered. Adults are 75us and kids 12 and under are 38us each.

Check out this map - http://barbados.org/maps_google_set.htm?mapSet=12 Zoom in on the lower left hand corner of the island. I don't believe the production distilleries are located near Bridgetown. Malibu & Mount Gay have hospitality centers close to the port for us tourist types.

 

The Mount Gay Rum and Malibu Beach Club (appear as little drink glasses) are located north of the port while Boatyard is located on Carlisle Bay (that nifty beach area to the lower right).
