Smoking

You may smoke in cabins and on balconies.

You may not smoke in hallways, indoor food venues, or the main lounge where they have the nightly shows.

Some lounges are smoking, some non.

Outdoors, starboard, is smoking.

Check the Capers. It will have a list of where smoking is allowed.

Some people say smokers don't respect the non-smoking areas. I've never noticed that.

It varies from ship to ship. For example, on Glory, the entire aft pool area is non-smoking.

I had someone swear to me you couldnt smoke in the cabins, so we asked someone smoking and he said you had to ask for a smoking cabin, you couldnt smoke in all cabins. Id never read that here, but thats what I was told on the Conquest a few weeks back.

Can anyone tell me is Carnival liberal about smoking on their ships? If "yes" is it certain areas only, or can you smoke everywhere?

Thanks Lesley

You are only allowed to smoke in designated smoking areas. You can smoke in your cabin, and on the balcony of your cabin if you have one. No smoking in the dining room, showrooms, casino on certain ships on certain nights, some bars. If you are confused, just ask the employees are happy to let you know the rules.

All cabins are smoking cabins except spa cabins.

Carnival uses designated smoking areas that are fairly standard to all their ships.

General designated smoking areas are the disco, casino, sports bar, cigar bar, piano bar and the Starboard side of the Pool area.

These are listed daily in the Capers. They do not change every day...they simply list them every day as a reminder.

At this time, smoking is still allowed in the cabins and balconies (except for the Spa cabins on the Splendor). The Dream and Magic will have these restrictions for Spa cabins as well.

No smoking is allowed in the cabin hallways, so cabin doors should remain closed if smoking in the cabin.

Also, no smoking is allowed in any designated smoking area IF this area is being used for Camp Carnival activities during the day. A sign will be posted.

I would not say liberal or restrictive....a fairly good balance when the rules are followed.

You can smoke anywhere on the ship except for those places specifically designated as non-smoking areas.

The Only cabins that do not allow smoking are on the Carnival Splendor... these are the SPA Cabins on the Spa Deck.

You may smoke in all other cabins on all Carnival ships, including on the Balcony.

Smoking is limited to one side of the ship. The other side is smoke free.

Smoking is not allowed in the hallways, the showroom, the dining room, the Lido buffet area, half the Atrium bar, Kareoke bar, the O2 Club, and Camp Carnival activities area.

I don't smoke and have never noticed smoke or have been bothered by someone elses smoking on the ship. I have found the smokers to be curtious. Security will politely remind you is you are smoking on the wrong side of the ship... or in a non-smoking area.

Enjoy your cruise. :)

There is no major cruiseline that allows smoking anywhere. They all have restrictions. On Carnival you may smoke in your cabin and on your balcony. And you may smoke in certain designated areas. You may not smoke in many public areas or theaters or anyplace food is served or anyplace where I am.

When in doubt, just look for the ashtrays. Someone mentioned that certain lounges are used for Camp Carnival during the day, and are non-smoking at those times. Some other activities, such as tea time, can also switch a certain area from smoking to non-smoking.

Cabin hallways are non-smoking, as mentioned above, but some hallways and public areas permit smoking along the starboard side. Again, where and when smoking is allowed, there will be a plethora of ashtrays. The only exception to this is the open decks on starboard side, where smoking is permitted but there are only a few metal ashtrays attached to the walls/railings. Make sure to find one of these rather than throw your cigarette overboard!

We're both smokers, we've never had any trouble finding a place to smoke, and we never smoke where it isn't allowed. I think Carnival provides a great balance!
