bennifer Posted October 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2008 Does anyone know how I could find out what movies will be showing in the theater the week we will be sailing? We will be on the Mariner 10/26 TIA
Cruise_Couple Posted October 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2008 I think you may only be able to find out once you are on board. I have never seen a list published.
Clarea Posted October 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2008 I have emailed web_reservations@rccl.com to get info on upcoming cruises, such as Captain, Cruise Director, entertainment schedule, etc. Perhaps they could also provide a movie list. truffles2 Posted October 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2008 Mariner did not even have a channel telling what the movies would be while you were on board (like most ships do). The movies were very old.
cb at sea Posted October 9, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2008 They won't be "first-run" movies. They do put the titles in the Compass, but to tell you the truth--there are too many other things to do and see besides watching a movie!
truffles2 Posted October 9, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2008 The only titles in the Compass were the movies playing in the theater:(
negc Posted October 9, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2008 The only titles in the Compass were the movies playing in the theater:( That may have been the case on Mariner but it definitely was not the case on our recent Jewel Transatlantic. The daily compass indicated the movies and the times that they were being shown both on TV and in the cinema. Many if not all of the films shown in the cinema were also shown on our Tvs at some point. While the movies were not first run, neither were they old (except for some classic films} I have found them comparable to the ones being featured on HBO or the "ON DEMAND" channels of our cable system. Among the films that we could have watched were "Michael Clayton", "The Bee Movie", "Dan in Real Life", "Game Plan", "Lions for Lambs", "Enchanted", "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "The Great Debaters". The selection was also similar to what we could watch on our American Airlines flight from Boston to London. Even with several sea days on our cruise, I have to admit that I never found time to sit in my room and watch movies and only once have I sat in the cinema to see one ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding" - on Brilliance of the Seas Transatlantic in September, 2002.):), but for those so inclined the selection is not too bad. Not sure what films you will see on your cruise but I suspect that the selection will be somewhat similar.:)
truffles2 Posted October 9, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 9, 2008 I am speaking only of the most recent cruise on Mariner. Other ships have usually have a channel that list the movie channels and what is running. Don't think I have ever seen a movie from start to finish in the room and have never been to the theater....but it is nice to KNOW what is available.
