Carolyn ~ Are you keeping your foot elevated? I'm sure you are. I hope it doesn't hurt too much. Do you have caller ID? If so, don't answer the phone when you see it's your sister. ;) I'm sticking with my points and doing the NordicTrack 45 minutes/day. I'm going to a party tonight though so I'm sure I'll be cheating a little. :o

Baby ~ Where's your water?

Belle ~ I hope you're having fun with your guests.

Donna ~ How are you today?

Sheila...

don't have caller ID... though I do "know the ring" w/DS calls... (well most of the time). I also can tell when she calls on the cell too.. (caller ID works there and she's "family time" so though it's not using my minutes she's still a "pain").

That said I usually tell her I'm tired, and usually, though not always,, that works.

Need to get foot elevated and to pop some ibuprofin (though my MD didn't tell me to do this... others have so it's worth it.. to cut pain (trying not to pop prescripts if not necessary and also getting anti-inflamitory).

Hi all!

Leaving very early tomorrow morning. Have started packing last night and must finish everything before my manicure this afternoon! I find packing is such a chore. We take soooo much. Next trip is on land and I am going to try to take a lot less.

Gained back 1 pound. Not too happy. Weigh 2 1/2 pounds more than before last couple of cruises. Not a good thing.Maybe, if I am good today, I will weigh less tomorrow????

Carolyn...you take good care of yourself. hope you are all healed by the time I return.

Shelia, Donna & Belle...hope you all have a good couple of weeks and LOSE!!!

Bye for now!

Baby,

Bon Voyage...

try not to overpack (yeah, right, know with us we tried "not to" and I ended up with extra stuff... though I DID manage to "forget" to pack Alex's suit trousers... a "major" faux pax" on my behalf (and realized it as soon as I starting unpacking.. was livid at myself... and Mike... and when I was packing <with check list> Mike had asked me if I had the suit trousers.. Mike sure did pack alot.. didn't wear half the semi-formal stuff).

Drink the water and don't "sweat" the lb.

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

BTW, how long are you going to be away 'cause I'm probably going to be in a cast starting this Monday for about 7-8 weeks before I start PT... ugh.

I'm off to bed now. We leave the house at 6am tomorrow. I am exhausted. Packing is such a chore. I tried not to take too much, but I took lots. Different clothes for different weather.

You take care of yourself, Carolyn, and I will check on you when I return.

Hope everyone else stays well ...and slim!!!

Hi all,

Must admit first week back has been the absolute pits. Wouldn't have been good even if I didn't have a nasty cold. Unfortunately, no choice but to work since our billing person was out and the back up can't print without my intervention every time. Loads of work in front of me now so off to remote desktop next.

Belle, I'm sure you had a great time with the company but bet it is nice have the house back to yourself.

Sheila, All better now? Still doing the early morning workouts?

Carolyn, I bet you'll be glad and sorry when the cast is finally on. At least you should have more mobility. Sounds like Mike is holding up pretty well and hasn't had a nervous breakdown yet!

I missed Baby! Only getting the alerts of posts occasionally which I think was the way it was intended to work but it first time it is working that way.

Taco soup is cooking and I am alternating Work with taking down decorations. Joe just brought up the boxes so now I even have some place to put them. Better get some Work done next since I never know how long remote will stay up. As it is, I already went in and restarted it once today so hoping it will be the last time it goes down this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Don't know what to "expect" with the cast... since I've "partially" casted right now... bottom of foot, lower calf totally plastered and top calf/shin open in front.. so feeling somewhat constricted... just concerned of incision area healing properly.. balanced on scale today and didn't like what I saw... don't know how true it is... and I'm not really eating much of anything, though am "sloth" only out of bed for about 1 1/2 hr total for day (other than bathroom hobbles).

Been off painkiller for another day, though I did pop triple dosage of Motrin (didn't help) and was tempted to take Percodane before sleep... didn't and was somewhat uncomfortable. Had to get "men" (as Libby calls the "boys" lol) up at 6:15AM today since Alex was taking his first "shot" at SAT (he's only 13 lol so it's not going to really count, which is good, but will give him background) Once they were "officially" up Libby decided that she was up for day (so that means I was too)... though she was compensating it with the "I LOVE YOU Mommy game she's been playing lately" oh well she's off to basketball with Mike and then they go to pickup Alex at 12:30PM then they'll do a little bit of marketing (made a slight list) so I'll get some quiet time. Think tomorrow we'll get to "sleep in" since they don't have to get up until around 8 (funny how that's now considered "sleeping in").

Have a great weekend everyone.

Back several hours later...

Donna, Belle, Sheila

not sure you're preferred cruiseline but am getting bombarded w/e-mails and realize that though we have a booking for Xmas '06 (from a year ago deposit that got rebooked w/substituted MSC and attached shipboard credit still on) I'm starting to think we "jump ship" again ... though at times I'm thinking about doing a land only (Hawaii or island) vacation next time.. we're sitting on a ton of FF miles and I really feel I need to budget and economize (though on paper we're doing fine... it's probably "just me" since the checks to Alex's school are really putting me in cardiac arrest... just got the "annual notice" (though this is his first year there) of the increase in tuition for next year...5% (seems like it's an automatic given... wish Mike got a salary increase of 5% as a given lol).

So, ladies, here's the ??? what do you think, if we'd consider a cruise, should we "try Princess"? Seems like these days Princess has deals... might even try Mexican Riv. again (that was Libby's first cruise... 8 years ago.. on Jubilee... never went on Carnivore again though we've had great offers... (only paying port taxes... it was just "that bad"). Also have a feeling that the kids are at a decent age to do excursions in Mexico and the $$ is still strong there (compared to Carib).

BTW, Mike did a marvelous job grilling chicken (to perfection... he's putting me to shame). He's taking pride in improving his grilling technique (and kitchen too). Gotta give him credit...

Carolyn, Which Princess/which itinerary? If there is a deal at Christmas go for it. We are Platinum on Princess, definitely a step up from RCL and more comparable to X with more children.

Donna,

Years ago I was under the impression that Princess wasn't that "family friendly". At that time my kids were used to enjoying the kids program when the ship was at sea... we ALWAYS take them ashore... would NEVER consider leaving them on board while we were eslewhere, that's just the way we are. Now, after experiencing cruising w/them on MSC where there was NOTHING for the kids I realize that the ship is a floating hotel (won't use the word "resort" for MSC lol) and we would make our choice primarily by pricing (1st) and itinerary. I just checked my "on hold" booking and it's a bit too high for my tastes. I'd love to find out from Alex's school when they think their calendar will be available for next year's holidays (they always get at least 2 weeks off so not sure if it will only be a few days before Xmas and then right back in mid-week of New Years).

Who do you usually book with for Princess, since I'm aware that Princess DOES offer incentives w/TAs.

OK... now to stay "on task" for this thread... how's everybody doing?

I can't wait to see the doctor tomorrow AM to see if things are "ok" since I feel that the foot is totally twisted. Enjoy the weekend.

Morning all,

Oops, more like afternoon!

Carolyn, That was then and this is now! Holiday sailings are full of children. On the Grand last January, we had two little girls (9 &11) with us on the stingray tour and they were not happy that they missed the kid's program back on the ship. Last TA we used for Princess was AX but we dumped her in February when she didn't get back to us on the Galaxy cruise. Most TA's have deals going. Stock option doesn't always work since Carnival finds lots of other things to override it. If you look at my Grand review you'll get a pretty good feel for what it is.

Sheila, having a good weekend?

Belle, things back to normal?

Better get back to work!

Donna,

Saw your posting on X board about doing "land"...

which AI have you heard of being "VG" "E"

think we're in the same "boat" as far as possibly finding AIs expensive since we're not big drinkers... though some of the included excursions etc. would balance out that. What do you know?

Not sure if we'd do a package for AI or land separate and own air.

TIA

Carolyn, Last AI was El Presidente in Ixtapa for New Year's 2000 so it has been awhile. Actually, that one was probably worth it since they had all top shelf and we enjoyed it immensely. Our favorite before that was Moon Palace in CanCun which is part of the Palace Resorts group. It was gorgeous and out of town but we had priviledges at all the Palace resorts in town. Google Palace Resorts and check them out. Friends went last year for their honeymoon and said it was every bit as good as when we were there. The next one I am leaning towards is Aventura Palace which is even further out of town and an adult spa though they have a sister property next door which is family oriented. Looks like Joe needs a new car so not making any plans yet. Hoped his would make it until mine was paid off but signs that it could nickel and dime us to death in the meantime. Really can't complain since he put on 250,000 miles since he bought it but would rather plan another vacation!

Here you about the cars...

we just got a new one in August (Pilot SUV which we needed to replace the "lemon" Merc. Sable Wagon which was "only" almost 11 yrs old but "only" had 100K miles... "my" Honda Accord ('89) only had about 116K miles and would have easily had a year or two more if it wasn't for my DS.. (term used loosely) who left the light on while having it parked at my parents last winter... got a dead battery and presented problems when we finally got it jumped before we closed up the house in July. The mechanic that my father "trusted" so much took advantage of me... said it had a ton of work and I only got $200 for it (after he deducted the $50 that he said he spent to evaluate it) I'm sure he made a decent amount on it 'cause they were working on it as soon as I said "OK" and I think they had it up and running. I'm sure he turned it around for a bit though he said it required about $1200 for me.

Heard good things about the Palace group... would think about Playa area... though we'd probably go in the winter.

I wrote on the menu board, it worked and then wrote

a long post on here and then when I try to send.."page not

available." When that happens you lose everything!

Last night I could read everything but couldn't post.

See if this post gets thru.

I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow, busy Tuesday

morning/afternoon so won't be posting till Tuesday night.

Everyone take care.

Belle,

Hope that you're having "good/fun busy" for the next couple of days.

Happy Monday ladies.

Just got back from doctor after having a g-dawfull night. It was the follow up visit and got the stitches out and lighterweight cast put on... getting it on was somewhat painful since he wanted my foot as flexed flat as possible (for achilles) and since I've got breaks all around foot (and ankle/heel etc) it's hard to do,,, but the casting material was nice and warm and now it's lighter on leg. Have next followup in two weeks to get more x-rays and then 2 more weeks... about 6 weeks at least... am kind of tempted to balance on scale to see what's "going on" though won't do it until tomorrow AM... ok, ladies, am I sabotaging myself in doing so, think I'll only weigh myself once a week to see what's going on.

Now going to hobble back to bedroom to take a load off...

Catch 'ya later.

Is it because you can't get on..like me?

I'm trying again..hope it works.

Was gone all day/night Monday..was so good!

Didn't eat the donuts..cookies, candy, crackers and

such! I took fruit add veggies..ate some of the dinner

and took my own dessert, sfff pudding.

Sat. andSun. went to the gym. Also went yesterday..

Came home was fine. Two hours later couldn't walk

did something to the side of my knee and calf..pain and

now limping along. Now a friend says to me..told you

exercise causes you pain. She hates to exercise! NOW

SHE CAN USE ME AS AN EXCUSE NOT TO EXERCISE! LOL

Carolyn..Glad you got the cast now, hoping it will be easier

for you to get around. Hope the pain gets better for you..mean

it gets less pain day by day.

Donna..How's your work going. Any luck in a new one yet?

You were talking about cars..I need a new one but would rather

spend the money for cruises/trips! LOL

Shelia..Where are you? Miss you. How's everything going for you?

Know your busy at your work too. Are you feeling better? Hope so.

Sure Baby is having a good time..she sailing on the "deep blue sea"!

Gets to Hawaii on Friday.

Hope your having a good week.

Hi All,

Belle, Sounds like you are being VERY GOOD and it will pay off. Now all you have to do is get over the injury! I am going nuts at work and bringing just as much home as I'm doing there. I just started to behave then Joe stopped at the store and now I have to kill him right after two hours on the treadmill to work off the chips and cheese! Maybe I'll just kill him first!

Carolyn, getting around better? Is the pain getting any less? Glad Mike is enjoying his new experiences. Maybe you will manage to get a new grill chef out of the deal!

Sheila, The bad part of getting back is getting the white stuff out of the diet again. I can actually see where Atkins has a point. However, WW makes me feel like I have more control.

OK, just as good, time to get dinner on the table and wake him from his nap!

Have a great evening!

Hi girls!! I can't believe that I LOST this thread!! How did that happen? I looked on here Monday and I didn't see any more posts after my post and then BAM! LOL Sorry I haven't posted all week. I really thought there really weren't any more posts. :o

I don't know if y'all read any other threads (like Countdown). I know Belle does sometimes..... Anyway, I went to the hormone specialists on Tues. She told me that I was eating too many carbs, etc. She is totally right. Since I switched from South Beach to WW, I've been VERY liberal with the "bad" carbs. I guess because I didn't have them for so long on SB. Anyway, I'm still doing WW, but switched to Core because I need more "food" structure. I guess we'll see what happens. I really want to lose at least 17 more pounds and tone up a lot more. I've been doing 45 minutes of cardio 5-6 days a week and strength training 3 days a week. You'd think that SOMETHING would happen. LOL

Donna ~ I just couldn't continue getting up at 4:15 AM. I have insomnia real bad so that played a major part in it. Funny, but I take an Ambien CR every night and still don't sleep much. The hormone specialist told me that after she get's my hormones straightened out that I'll be able to sleep. I'll believe it when I do it! ;) BTW, I hope you are feeling better today!!

Carolyn ~ Glad you got your lighter cast put on. I'm so sorry you are still in so much pain. Can you split the pain pills in half and take one/day? I hope your sister isn't bugging you too much.

Baby ~ So sorry I missed you before you sailed! I hope you're having a wonderful time!!

Talk to you later! :)

Shelia..WE were here..you were lost! LOL

I'm sure Core will work for you with all the

exercise you do you should be losing. Maybe

you were eating to many carbs.

Donna..I'm trying. Now the stupid leg. It seems to

be better today, not limping as much. Not as much

pain as before. So giving it two days and hope

it will be fine.

Your working to much! Not suppose to bring it home.

Your on WW too? Core or Flex?

Carolyn..Hope your feeling better and in not too much pain.

Let them wait on you as much as possible. It will end soon

enough.

Baby..Thinking of you..can't wait for you to tell me all about it.

Have a good week and take care.

Hi All,

Belle, Slightly modified flex and back to journalling finally. Kind of like taking a year off but too many days cruising and holidays in that year. Now it is back to basics and the treadmill. Of course, I had to find the treadmill first under all the Christmas blankets that have been dry for a week now.

Sheila, Hormones are a pain in the B@tt! Hope she gets you straightened out quickly and you will definitely sleep better. Did you know thyroid is hormones. I am still getting tested every 3 months.

Carolyn, How are you feeling? Are you still layed low or can you get around now?

Ok, better go finish cleaning up the kitchen.

Have a great evening!

Belle ~ I was definitely lost! I just can't figure out how it happened...LOL! What happened to your leg? Did I miss that also? I hope you're better today.

Donna ~ Yes, I know about the thyroid. That is one of the things this new doctor is testing. Have I told you yet that you look amazing in your picture? If not, you look amazing! :D

Carolyn ~ How's the foot today?

I hope Baby is having a good time!

Hey everyone...

finally "hobbled" out of bedroom today to get to computer...

it's been a LONG week.. and today's been grey, gloomy and raining cats 'n dogs. Unfortunately I've got too much time on my hands... doctor doesn't want me to put any weight on foot for a while.. and dealing w/crutches/walker is still the pits. Pain finally (as of the afternoon) is bearable. Since I'm "phobic" on taking excess meds (from the extreme Atkins days) I've dealt with the pain w/o meds. I've just been a b*ch to be around... starting w/the pityparty. Then my Mom's been "acting up" with her health complaints... and my sister "stepping in" to handle them (or mismanage them) which makes matters worse for me. What do I expect. I finally let it "drop" to Diane that Mom's on Medicaid... but things are still "up in air" for estate 'cause I don't want her demanding $$$.

Sheila, it's interesting that your specialist thinks that some of your resistancy is related to carbs... I know, for me, that my system is far less tolerant to them.. and now that I'm a "prisoner" in the upstairs it's impossible for me to stay on induction if I wanted to so I'm trying to have complex carbs and eating a fair amount of wholegrain (high fiber) cereals to hold me over during the day since I don't have a fridge upstairs... at least I'm maintaining.. that's all I can hope for these days.

Belle, glad to hear of your "loss"... and sticking to your WOE... hope your knee is feeling better.

Donna, I hear you about DH... I know Mike "means well" with his menu planning (unfortunately I'm a captive though) and then he brings up a HUGE bag of Tostitos ... after I've had more than my share he says "oh, they were for Libby when she got home.. then I rant that Libby doesn't need them either... that if she REALLY wanted them she would just have to go downstairs... (OK I got my ranting done).

Leg's starting to swell up (as I am) so I think it's back to the bedroom.

Hope everyone's got plans for the weekend. The kids are busy for tomorrow, don't know what's planned for Sunday... thought "maybe" we'll drive down to see my Mom since we haven't been there since beginning of December (and that was a quick pop in for 15 minutes -- lol)

Carolyn..Good to hear from you. Sorry your in pain

Hope each day it will get better soon. Your food plan

will get better in time just be happy that your

husband is taking care of you the best he knows.

You have to give him a menu to follow..Good Luck! LOL

Shelia..I don't know but must of been exercise. Went to the gym

Tuesday by night time couldn't walk and had a terrible pain,

side of my knee and calf. Was really bad for a few days but much

better today, not limping to much. Going to go to the gym

tomorrow and just do weights, no legs weights or exercise.

Did go out with the "girls" tonight to the show and dinner,

was alright.

Congrats on your new size! Weigh to go!

Donna..Welcome back to WW, the three of us doing same diet

more or less. Good luck to us! Maybe can give each other tips on

good things to est that are core or low points.

So are you back in the swing of things after your cruise yet?

Work is to long..Vacations are to short!

Everyone have a good weekend..hope you all post so I

have something to read!
