Sheila, thanks for all your encouragement. Today, I am 1/2 pound UNDER the awful pound...first time is ages. Now...the challenge is to keep is down!

Good luck with the Lasik surgery. Hope it will be a piece of cake!

So nice that you are making your mom a birthday party. Smart to cater it. Are you having many people? Maybe the caterer can send you a waitress to serve and clean up. Don't laugh. I do that. It makes a BIG DIFFERENCE! When you think about the money we waste on junk etc, this is money well spent!

Do I dare ask which birthday it is?

Enjoy!

Baby, I thought you just really wanted us to see your post. ;) My Mom will be 65 tomorrow. We're only having about 18-20 people and they are all family so we won't need a server or someone to clean up. That's what DH is for. :D

So glad you're done 1/2 from that awful pound! Yippie for you!

You know what, Sheila...your mom is my age! I am even older because I am 65 and a half (like the little kids!). She is so lucky to have a daughter like you. Your party will be wonderful. (and you are so lucky to have a DH to help clean up!). When I have that many people (the Jewish Holidays), I do the cooking. I cook ahead of time and freeze whatever I can. But I don't invite anyone before I hire an "assistant" to help serve and to clean up. Just this week, I made arrangements for someone for the Passover Seder, which is in April. (These women are in demand!)

Back to the topic of the thread....I think I am retaining water. I don't know why. But my rings are tight.

Sheila, Here is to a wonderful party today! I'm sure everybody will have a great time! BTW, if you really like snow, we have some extra that I would be glad to send down there. It appears that we either get A) sunshine and frigid or B)warmer temps and snow. Doesn't appear to be any other options at the moment. 3 more inches last night and still snowing on and off today.

Baby, Where is that water? WTG on the loss now stay focused! When are you leaving?

Belle, Hope your getting some downtime. Won't help if you wear yourself out to the point of getting sick or total collapse!

Carolyn, Everything cleared out of the nursing home? Was Mike able to help? Libby still enjoying webkinz? Now we have all 3 though Livvie lets her sister play most of the games for her to get her money to spend. At 4, the games are usually too difficult but the spending is quite easy.

OK, appears to be my turn and I'm taking it easy between my sore neck (been going on too long), sore lower back (new), more snow and system problems that I have to clean up, I am just poking along for today. Lots to get done so hope tomorrow moves along somewhat better. Joe has his sleep study tomorrow night so fingers crossed that they can actually do something that improves his sleep at night which will help him feel better during the day. Last night was Wendie but he managed to go straight back op today. It appears to be working for him but I'm holding out my vote right now. Now, better go check my programs and see what they found.

Have a great weekend!

Sorry I've been MIA.

Been busy around here.

My father had a bad cold thought it might

of gone into pneumonia but didn't.

Has bedsores because he's bed ridden. So

trying to get those well. Plus all the other

problems he has. Having lots of nurses visiting.

Mother has surgery today (Monday) for

skin cancer on her neck. Have been taking her for

doctor visits. So a long day ahead.

Been trying to read your posts even if don't write.

Sheila..Hope the party was lots of fun and not to much

trouble for you. Your doing so good in your exercise and eating.

You should be proud of yourself. If only I could learn from you.

Donna..Hope your feeling better and Joes sleep test tells

what's wrong. Sorry for all your snow. We're having lots of

rain and I'm tired of it.

Baby..I know you will keep off that pound. Wish I only had a pound!

When are you leaving for Palm Springs? It was in the 70's

but has cooled a little bit. It will warm up before you get there.

Wish I was going!

Carolyn..How are you doing? Trouble with sister? I bet

when she gets her money (I assume there is) You won't hear

from her anymore. She's out for what she can get, with little

work on her part. Stay clam.

I'm trying to have some days off but that doesn't stop

the mail, paper work ect. Now to deal with their taxes.

They can't do anything..I have to do it all. Thank goodness

the house is sold. No more trips now there.

Remember I'm an only child. No one but me to do it.

So remember I think of you often even if not writing

like I use to.

Glad to hear from you, Belle and Donna.

Belle, Thank G-d, it didn't turn into pneumonia. That happens so often. Good luck with your mother's surgery. Is it melanoma? Is it from too much sun? I have had lots of little things removed. One was a basel cell, the others nothing. It is always scary.

This weekend, we changed our plans for Palm Springs. I found a good rate at the Westin Mission Hills Villas and Resorts. Do you know it? I think it is a better choice. (I hope it is a better choice!).

I know it rained there yesterday. I check the weather every day. It seems rather cool and there is much more rain than I imagined for the desert.

Donna, last night I didn't sleep too well. If Joe has that every night, I know how difficult it must be. I know so many people who can't sleep. We were out with friends this weekend. One was drinking coffee. I told her I don't drink coffee at night anymore. She answered that she doesn't sleep anyway, so what's the difference? What age does to us!

I think your weather is similar to ours.

Your neck, shoulder and back sounds like mine. I am going to phone my physiotherapist this morning.

Sheila, how was the party? Your mom must have been thrilled.

Carolyn, let us hear from you.

Now, the important topic!!

So, yesterday I was down, one pound below the awful one. I didn't eat much on Saturday. DH and I shared a salad and a pizza and all I had was one slice of the pizza.

Yesterday, I ate a little more, but honestly, I was very good...and 1/2 pound came back on. It is such a struggle. Now I am determined.

Have a great day, all!

Hi girls! I hope all of you had a good weekend!

Mom’s party was a hit! She was so excited and we totally surprised her. It was priceless!

Baby ~ I think I’m lucky to have a Mom like I have. She is the most fantastic person in the world. She is very giving and will do anything to help anybody. In other words, a great lady. You’re still a spring chicken! Didn’t you know that the 60’s are the new 50’s? By the time you’re in your 70’s. The 70’s will be the new 50’s. See, you’re getting younger every day. Good news that the awful pound is staying away! :D

Donna ~ I would love to take some of your snow off your hands. How did Joe’s sleep clinic go? That was last night, right? Is your neck and back any better?

Belle ~ Hey! Don’t take after me with the WOE based on this weekend! I ate at my Mom’s party and then again yesterday because we had food leftover. I was a good girl though and went to the gym for a 1.5 hour workout on Sat. morning. I sure hope your Dad’s bed sores get better. Poor guy. I know that has got to be uncomfortable. Are they going to start making him turn over, etc. to keep from getting them again? I hope your Mom’s surgery went well. Are you taking care of yourself?

Carolyn ~ How are you? Please check in to let us know. We’re concerned about you!

Have a great day, my friends! :)

Sheila..I'll keep in mind that I am getting younger!! Glad to hear your party was a hit! Your Mom sounds wonderful.

In 2 days I managed to return to the awful pound, but...big but, this morning I am a pound less. So it's a good day!!!

Yesterday, I went shopping (even though my weight was up!!) and....Donna, are you listening?...I bought 5 pieces of Anne Klein, each at 70% off!!!! What fun! It was very quiet in the store and I had the saleslady all to myself. Anyway, now I really have an incentive to get my weight on track. If I can take off 2 more pounds, I won't complain.

Have a great day, all!

Good morning, girls!

Baby ~ Wow! You did get a good find...70% off. I love those kind of sales. I'm glad you're down a pound so you can have a good day. ;)

Since my WOE was so bad this past weekend, I know I won't have a loss this week. That's OK...I did it to myself. Tonight will be my last workout until Monday since I'm having the LASIK done. Tomorrow night is another appt. meeting with the surgeon and having more tests. After that, it is Bunco so I won't make it to the gym. :o

Have a great day, my friends! :)

Mother is fine. Had the surgery twice..

then stiched up. Only there about four hours.

Dad sore is getting better. Sheila they do turn him

from side to side (he can't turn himself) but he

keeps slipping. Helps when he's lifted into the

wheelchair for awhile but gets tired easy.

Sheila good luck on the Lasik and bunco! Win

at both!

Baby good on the weight loss. Great job on the

great sales. Are the outfits for crusing or Palm

Springs or just for you... No reason.

Speaking of the desert..haven't heard of the Westin Villa.

It's in Rancho Mirage, you know that? About seven miles

from Palm Springs. So it's still close to everything.

Rancho has lots of nice places to eat, shows and a casino.

We have stayed at some villas. There nice, extra stuff offered.

Have your own kitchen. More room then a hotel.

Your weather will be nice. They don't really get much rain.

Don't believe everything you read. When you read rain,

maybe they had a few showers for 10 minutes.

Not saying that maybe some time they might have heavy

rain but not often. Seems more to them because don't have drainage

because it doesn't rain there! LOL

Donna how are you feeling? Joe? Hope your both doing

better.

Carolyn are you having a rough time? Please come in and

vent with us. We have good ears and broad shoulders.

You all take care.

Hey girls!

Baby & Belle ~ Thanks for the well wishes. It is going to be a piece of cake. ;)

Belle ~ I figured that your dad was being turned. I know it is hard to keep him the a different position without him slipping. Poor guy. So glad to hear your Mom's surgeries went well. Hang in there!

Carolyn ~ I'm also getting worried about you. Please let us know how you're doing. {{{HUGS}}}

Donna ~ Hello!

Talk to you later! :D

Dealing with my Parents..I say with a crazy LOL!

Now my mother isn't feeling good. Has a

fever tonight. Now have to see how she is

in the morning. If it's from surgery, has an

infection. Or if think she has flu.

Decide what doctor to take her to in the morning.

Or try to get appt. at last minute on a Friday.

If can't, if worse..always Emergency Room. Hope there's

no need.

Was taking a day off to get some things done..never happens.

On top of this trying to get their taxes together to do.

See why I'm crazy?

Sheila how did your appt. go?

Did you win at Bunco?

Baby are you out shopping?

Donna and Carolyn write us on how your doing.

Have a good weekend.

Dealing with year end is bad enough but now I have a month end in the middle of it. Only advantage was that so many didn't show up after the 10" of snow on Thursday night that some of the work can't be done until Monday.

Belle, How is you mom? Did you get her in to see a doctor? Hope your dad's bedsores continue to improve and you finally manage a day off! I'm afraid I'm catching just the beginning of that only child thing right now so definitely know how difficult it is. Hang in there.

Baby, WTG on the lb and the shopping! I love Anne Klein and I'm sure you'll enjoy what you bought for a very long time. She tends to be a bit more classic than a lot of designers. Where is that water? Looking forward to Palm Springs? I would definitely be!

Sheila, How are you doing post surgery? I'm sure you'll love the results. Lots of friends have gone that route and would never go back. Seems to make a huge difference. Glad Mom's party went so well!

Carolyn, Hate to say it but you probably would have an easier time now if you were an only child! How are you holding up? Mike home or traveling?

OK, sleep study definitely showed issues which is a miracle since they totally messed it up. He got there at 8:30 as scheduled and they didn't hook him up until 10:15 (he was falling asleep in a chair while waiting). It was 11:30 when they finally did lights out after all the hook ups and by then he couldn't sleep. They would normally give a sleeping pill but

couldn't because we live too far away (they have a closer location to us but insisted he go to MKE). He finally fell asleep and they got enough to realize that there is a serious problem so he sees the doctor on the 11th. However, they may not have enough info to satisfy the insurance company so will have another battle coming up. Meantime, my neck and back seem to be slowly improving so hoping that I don't manage to do anything to mess them up again. OK, better get him moving since he insists that we need to go to Menard's this morning.

Have a great Sunday!

Sheila, how are you feeling? Hope everything went smoothly and you are doing fine.

Carolyn, we miss you.

Donna, so glad you report on weekends! Yes, my water is at hand. (I wouldn't dare post without it!!!!). I have been really trying, and now I am 1 and 1/2 pounds UNDER the awful pound. I haven't been this low in months. So, I hope I keep on track. Last night, for dinner, we went to a restaurant that serves my favourite pasta dish. Whenever I order it, I gain. So I told the waitress to give me half and pack up half to go. I didn't eat the bread...and they serve delicious baguette to dip in balsamic and olive oil. I drank lots of hot water and lemon. And, voila...down 1/2!!!

We,too, have so much snow. Our front lawn has a mountain! At the moment, the snow is fresh and white. When I opened the door to get the paper this morning, it was almost blindingly bright!

Good luck with Joe's sleeping problem. I hope they can resolve it soon.

Belle, hope your mother is feeling better. It never stops. Always something new. But, you are fantastic! Keep smiling! I am sure your smiles are like medicine to them.

Have a good day, all!

Good morning, girls!

The LASIK procedure went great. The Valium they gave me had worn off though by the time they got me back and I was a nervous wreck. They did give me a teddy bear to hold....I guess they wanted my hands occupied. LOL It is amazing that I can see so well just a few days afterwards. I was seeing 20/70 right after the procedure and my doctor said that I was the best that day. ;)

Belle ~ I'm so sorry to hear that your Mom isn't well. Have they found out why she has a fever? I sure hope she doesn't have an infection from the surgery. I also hope your Dad's sores are healing. Take care! Oh, I didn't win Bunco.

Donna ~ I hate to hear that Joe's experience at the sleep clinic wasn't a good one. I don't think I could sleep a wink either. My DH has done the clinic and he was moderately rated for sleep apnea. He needs the CPAP, but refuses to wear one. I just bought a "white noise" machine and it is helping drown out his snoring. Sleep apnea can cause chest pains also. Glad your neck & back are improving. Don't do anything to aggravate them.

Baby ~ I over-did on the food this weekend. It was DH's birthday. He had TWO birthday cakes. His mother made him a delicious sour cream pound cake. We ate a few pieces and I put the rest in the freezer. Of course, the other cake is still in the frig. It is a Snicker's cake. I didn't dare weigh today because I know I'm up. John and I have pledged to not have anything unhealthy until our trip to Savannah at the end of March.

Carolyn ~ Still thinking of you! Please post.

Have a great day!

Took mother to get her stiches out

today. Didn't get them out..had an infection.

So got medicine and driving her back Thursday.

See if she gets them out and see what kind of

infection she has. (took culture)

Quess why she wasn't feeling well but she got better

so didn't take to doctor.

Dad's sores are better but now has other problems.

Sheila glad your Lasik went so well. Glad your

seeing so well. Your taking a trip to Savannah.

Just a vacation or to visit friends? When is your

next Cruise?

Baby when do you leave for Palm Springs? Know

it's this month and March. We were going to try

and go to PS for a few days but decide it was

to far to go at this time. Trying to figure some

place else to go but closer.

Your next cruise is in May? Great on your weight loss.

I try to SMILE but sometimes.......

Donna glad your feeling better. Hope they can

help Joe so he does better. Do you have a cruise

planned? Know you had a couple but canceled them.

Donna your an only child? Try and get them to DO THINGS

NOW to HELP THEM/YOU when things get worse.

Downsize the house now or least get things cleaned

out now. ECT. ECT.

Carolyn tell us how your doing. We don't care about

your weight. Just want to know how your doing.

Think you need a cruise your trip to Hawaii was a bust.

No relaxing for you. How's your husband's job since

new boss. Hope there isn't a problem there.

Husband and I are thinking of planning a cruise but

not till Nov./Dec. Europe again. Will make it two

years to the date since our last cruise. Just depends

on my father and mothers health/condition at the

time of full payment. We sure do need to get away for

awhile. Hope it will happen.

Hope we hear from you all soon.

Belle ~ When it rains, it pours on you. My goodness! So sorry to hear that your Mom is still not doing well. {{HUGS}}

John and I are going to Savannah for a little get-away just for us. We haven't done that in a while as we usually vacation with friends and family. No cruise booked at this time. We're thinking of doing one in 2009. Trying to get some things done around the house this year so that is eating up our travel money. We're going to Orlando in May and then the Great Smoky Mountains in July so that's it for vacation this year. I don't mind though...our friends from Scotland are coming for a two-week visit. :D

How is everyone today?

Lucky you! Will you have time off when

your friends visit?

Where's everyone else?

Hope your all having a good week.

It's snowing and blowing...for a change! What a winter, this year!

The good news is that I am now 2 whole pounds under the awful one! To be honest, I haven't been feeling great (upset stomach) the last few days, so I haven't been eating much. But...whatever it takes to lose!!!!!

Belle...hugs from me, too! Hope the doctor can help your mother.

Sheila...glad all went well. I had to laugh, picturing you holding the teddy bear! I have never been to Savannah. It sounds charming (Gone with the wind).

Snicker cake...sounds decadent!

Take care, all!

Belle ~ So sorry to hear your DM is not doing well. Prayers are said for her. Yes, I will be taking off the whole time my Scottish friends are here. :D

Baby ~ Yay for you! Down under 2 lbs from the dreaded pound! I do hope you feel better though. Ease back slowly into your normal eating pattern so those two pounds don't come back. ;)

I stayed the same this week, which is a total shock! I was up two pounds two days ago. I've been working out harder though and really watching what I put in my mouth so I guess that helped.

Carolyn ~ I'm really getting worried about you! Does anybody have her e-mail address?

Take care, girls! :)

Sheila..Good on staying the same after

Superbowl and such. Plus you were up

and you got it off.

Baby..Sorry you don't feel well but

nice you lost two pounds.

Sorry about your snow..no rain here

and in the 60's! Should be in the 70's

in Palm Springs for you.

Donna and Carolyn hope your doing alright.

Everyone have a good weekend.
