I just heard officially that Sue left EC yesterday for vacation.

Yes. Ben Powney has replaced Sue as CD. Sue mentioned that she's returning to EC after her vacation.

Thanks! Any idea of who the Loyalty Ambassador is? We are expecting Ti-Anne to be back, but I haven't heard from her since the typhoon. She has been home since August and I've been worried! Did they say anything?

Sorry, I meant to include the Captain's Club Hostess. Ashley Whitaker. She is new but did a great job. Her husband is currently the Bar Manager on the Constellation and will be joining her on the Summit soon, if not already.

Hi Valerie,

I met Ben Powney onboard Eclipse. He boarded the ship about 1/2 way through the cruise, to shadow Sue Denning, and get a feel of the ship. As Ben has worked on a number of Celebrity ships in recent months, I suspect he fills in when other CD's are on vacation. I found Ben to be very personable and excited to be onboard Eclipse. He happens to enjoy Cruise Critic, so he must be good :). I appreciated that he wanted to meet the Cruise Critic members on our sailing (Ben wasn't onboard for the first meet and mingle), and helped coordinate a 2nd meeting, which was gracious of him & Sue Denning.

While it's tough to follow in Sue's footsteps, I hope Ben will do a great job.

I know it's a bit OT, but we sailed on Ben's 1st cruise on a Galaxy TA in 2008, when he was part of the activities staff. I recall that while he was very personable, he sometimes looked like a deer caught in headlights. We've sailed with him a number of times since, & watched him grow into a very confident Cruise Director. It's nice to see someone grow into the job & rise up through the ranks.

The party band on Eclipse for the Nov. 16th sailing was Fusion. Other entertainers in non-theater areas were:

Who's Carter Hayes: Pop Duo

Mickey llardi: Guitar & Vocals - Ensemble Lounge

Ray Brown Jr. Quartet

West Side Strings, Modern Classical

Perry Grant, Piano Entertainer - Michael's Club (also did a show in theater one night)

Fusion: Party band

James Manners, Guitar & Vocals (last few days of cruise; both Mickey Ilardi & James Manners onboard last few days of cruise)

Celebrity Orchestra also played a few times in Grand Foyer

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Thanks much. I really liked Top Notch when I previously heard them. Hopefully Fusion will be as good. I also have received the entertainment lineup from Celebrity. In addition to Perry Grant, who we love, there will be American Idol finalists on the EC Christmas cruise along with comedian Tom Cotter who was a finalist for America's Got Talent. Should be a great entertainment package.

Thank you both for the feedback. It will be great to meet Ben.

Hi Tom

Her family is okay and was well north of the storm. She is in Reflection. ~ Rick

Glad to hear that her family is well. I'm surprised that she is on Reflection- when we saw her in July she said she'd be back on the Summit.

She was on Reflection for the 1 Nov TA and had two folks in training with her. I think she was on her way elsewhere soon if not already.

It's the heading that so many people miss.

So many people would rather focus on the body. ;)

I believe that when you subscribe to a thread, as I subscribe to this one, and receive and read it in your email, only the body of the post comes through in the email; the title is not included in the email text. Therefore, it might be helpful to repeat the name of the ship you are reporting on in the body of the post!

If I am wrong about this, I am sure someone will correct me!! :D
