direfun2000 Posted October 25, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2008 Check the ports of call section for Europe. Likely lots of info there. Happy cruising!
lesley74 Posted October 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2008 Hi You could also look up some of the UK cruise lines, or Costa etc. UK ones are Thompson, Ocean Village, and Island Cruises. They all do med cruises, stopping at Italy along with other places like Barcelona, South of France, Dubrovnik, Greece etc. Might be worth a look at least. calicruise74 Posted October 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2008 I took a look at Ocean Villiage last week as an option for our 2009 Med Cruise...looked fine, until I realized you pay in British Pounds for the cruise fare. Not so much of a savings after all. :(
Rare patrickmoran Posted October 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2008 carrnival has some great prices for next fall on the Liberty and Dream. We are booked on the Liberty for 10/25/09 Med cruise. For me it was important that the cruise stated or ended in Rome because 1 day was not going to be sufficient. Both CCL and RCI have cruises that start in Rome and have an overnight in Venice (another city where more than a few hours are needed). CCL's prices are better :D and has newer & larger ships on this route.
sam73 Posted October 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2008 We got back a few weeks ago from a western med cruise on Carnival. We started in Rome(Citiveteccia) and ended in Rome. We stopped in Naples, Dubrovnik, Sicily, Venice, Barcelona, and Florence (Livorna). We were suppose to stop in Cannes,France but due to high winds that port was canceled. Venice was great the ship docked overnight so plenty of time there. I would have liked another day in Florence, and I wish we had chose to stay in Rome either before or after the cruise. We flew in the day of and left the day the ship docked. It was a great itenerary. We did see alot.
kaperino Posted October 25, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2008 We went on the Freedom and did get to go to Cannes. It was windy and we had to wait before we could get to the ship which was moved to protect it from the winds. The trip was shared with our 18 year old and his friend. They had the trip of a lifetime. You will enjoy an extra few days in Rome so be sure to book a hotel despite the extra expense. There is so much to see and do. Wear good shoes before you go on the trip and practice walking!
