shell52602 Posted October 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2008 My hubby and I are not going on any excursions and just wondered if anyone could give us some advice on where to eat, shop, etc. near the port? Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks!
mrsfuzzmo Posted October 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2008 You will tender right into town. Lot's of shopping , restaurant, things like that. You can hop on an island tour right there and there will be a lot of tour vendors waiting for you, but if you're not interested in touring, plenty to do in town. You can also easily walk to the public beaches and swim, sun and snorkle right there.

ronkay Posted October 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2008 there is a nice restaurant within walking distance from tender dock called the Paradise Rest. good food, cheap drinks (for Cayman). but nice and clean, you can also snorkle right there if you want to. to get to the pardise just walk to the right, you will be able to see it from the ship. greenish/blue little building right on the water also visit the Guy harvey shop, he is always in the shop if he is home. mrsfuzzmo Posted October 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2008 Of Course Margaritaville is always an experience! We usually have a blast there, but we like to party and the wildness of the place. They have a pool there as well. Neat place (but can be expensive) to hang out.

bookbabe Posted November 3, 2008 #11 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Thanks. We have never been to Grand Caymen is the store in walking distance from the port? Easily. The map linked to here - http://www.caymangoodtaste.com/restaurants_detail.asp?restaurantID=113 - shows both the harbor and the restaurant that's part of the store. bookbabe Posted November 3, 2008 #12 Share Posted November 3, 2008 anyone know the price of a tender to town if you dont have a tour booked The tenders are free...you just board following the instructions of your cruiseline. (Assuming that by "tenders" you mean the small boat "shuttle service" between the ship and land.) Once you disembark the tender, the main downtown area is right there. There's plenty of shopping, restaurants, some sightseeing and snorkeling, etc. within easy walking distance. You don't need a taxi unless you want to go to the beach, which is about a $4-6 per person taxi ride from the port area.
